Doesn't that make more room in the oceans? Bet that ocean bottom has been sinking/rising since it was created, Pangea and all that... Betcha some company will come up with a way to drill through the ocean bottom and pump all our nuclear waste down there in order to prevent the collapse of the crust.  And of course, our taxpayer money will be used to fund it.... The Sahara desert was once jungle. Most of North America was under water. It's really planet change, and I believe He designed it that way. He put our nuclear reactor 93 million miles away. We are so arrogant. tickedoff uglystupid2 Evil

Exactly, my first thought...So if the Ocean Floor is sinking, that would mean that the sea level will not be rising as much as the government funded "Climate Cardinals" are predicting. The 97% Consensus on Bogus Computer Models adds up to a 100% steaming pile of BS.

I am more concerned with the pollution in those oceans than their level

Thousands of square miles of floating plastic, radioactive marine life from nuclear plant meltdown etc

Yet the snowflakes wont concentrate their energy and hysteria on solveable problems

Agree, climate change is caused by THE SUN

Pollution to large extent by us

First clue of it being B.S. is the news source. The second clue is that it's about the hoax, and political agenda of the left's so called man made "Global Warming", "Global Cooling" (what they were pushing when I was in High School 50+ years ago. Mankind world be destroyed from famine because it would be to cold for agriculture), then "Polar Vortex" and  presently "Climate Change" which is the best one, because we all know that the Climate changes naturally and  frequently, always has and most likely always will with or without mankind. Nothing wrong with good stewardship of Earth, but no need to jump off the cliff with scientific hoaxes......my2cents, rick

I recently heard an expert on NPR tell the listeners that by 2050 the sea level will rise by 200 FEET if change/global/climate//warming isn't stopped.

Now that's the way to do a Chicken Little. Go big or go home.

The Global Warming Religion is just a Tax Grab and was designed to do so right from the beginning. Carbon Tax is the tax on everything including the food at my local grocery store...when Diesel Fuel is taxed raising the cost of farming as well as food delivery. The anti-fossil government here in Alberta has imposed that "Tax On Everything", right after they claimed that they would protect all us retired folks...LIARS!!

The earth's tectonic plates float on the asthenosphere, a layer of magma.  If the weight of the additional liquid water pushes down the tectonic plates beneath the oceans, won't that mean that the tectonic plates that make our continents will have to rise as the displaced magma redistributes itself around the planet?  I wonder what the net effect of land elevation relative to sea level will be.

Assuming the increased liquid water spreads over land previously barely above sea level, and as the warmer earth evaporates the water that has a proportionally larger surface area to evaporate from, won't that mean more moisture in the atmosphere, which will come down as rain, will green up previously arid land?  And won't all this new vegetation convert more CO2 to oxygen, thus diminishing greenhouse gases?

And isn't it true that volcanic eruptions and solar flares or the lack thereof can overwhelm the effects of pretty much all other factors?

sinking .004 inch’s a year ?

That's really a long time for some guy to hold his breath and keep measuring with his ruler.

And my rulers don't go to .004s.

Really, even with 5,000 test measurement spots, .004 could easily be the ocean currents moving dirt around on the floor.

I guess if true there might be a problem, in a few millennia.

All good observations and questions, I'd like to add one...why do greenhouse operators add CO2 to their buildings...could it be that it is good for plant growth and development?

Tax grab and power (votes). The liberals have nothing, no reason for anyone to vote for them since everything they stand for is bad for the country. So they make up global warming and other hoaxes, the liberal press makes sure everyone believes it, and now who is going to protect the helpless liberal naive victims, (clueless voters).

Firefighter, I like and respect you. But that is an asinine thing to say. Contrary to what many conservatives seem to believe, many "liberals" love our country. And are trying to do what is best for our country.

You know Meathead, I responded to you but went back and removed my response since there is no reason to pursue this subject with you. Guess we must both know we are right!

You are mistaken. I did no such thing. Maybe Willow did. But I don't know why he would. Your response was respectful. Misplaced, but respectful. (I don't think a member can remove another members post to begin with)
Edit, I reread your post. I thought you said I removed it.

Liberal and conservative are really a broad spectrum label. Some liberals are conservative enough that you would hardly notice the difference between them and a conservative with somewhat liberal views. Our representatives trying to hold on to their respective positions are the cause for so much name calling and divisiveness. It’s a shame really, as I think left to our own devices the majority of the country’s population could agree on a host of things that needs to be done that would benefit the entire population. But instead, each “side” wants to hold all those good things hostage for other interests that protects and rewards their voting block.

We really need term limits. The amount of dead wood littering the Congress is staggering.

This I agree with.   But back to the original topic, I could swear I felt the earth move the other night.   Maybe that was the ocean sinking and I just thought it was something else...................   coolsmiley

Last night while flipping channels during a commercial break of the Nat. Championship I found out Jupiter is shrinking at yearly rate that is tiny fractions of an inch  and in 1000 billion years it will be much smaller.  Better throw that into the mix, I am sure they can find a way.

Is my math correct?  Are we talking about an inch in the next 250 years, a foot in the next 3,000 years, twenty feet in the next 60,000 years?  Even if it's correct, which I doubt, does anyone care about a six mile deep ocean being twenty feet deeper in 60,000 years?

I don’t know about the math. I didn’t care enough to figure it. And I surely don’t care what the depth will be in 60,000 years.
