I would, and I wouldn't. Helmet is a non issue.
As a friend of mine said one July afternoon, "Why do you live here, its hotter than the hub of hell".
During those days, I would probably go to the front.
I've also been caught in micro-bursts.
That's where rain comes from every direction, with hail, fierce wind and people in cars look at you mournfully. No need to pull over on the bike, you wont get wetter.
I'd probably take advantage of that too and find a bridge till it passes. Then you're dry in 20 miles.
Stuck on the freeway with 175 degree pavement, I'm going to.
Nice day, no real issues, I wouldn't.
BTW, I've been part of the problem.
As I said previously:
We chose to ride on two wheels, that does not give us "special" treatment or rights over those who chose to drive with four.

I don't like being tail gated and I try to not tail gate, while on the highway or street, I have just as much right to the right of way as anyone on a bike or any cage has. They also have thr right unless that space is occupied by me or someone else. I respect their right to "own" that asphalt they are on and I expect them to respect the space I occupy.
I also don't appreciate it when someone passes close by me. Normally, I'm not expecting it. That applies whether I'm on my Valkyrie, in a cage or, pulling a load with my truck. I've live long enough to know that I'm no longer invincible. Like most young'ns, I used to think I was indestructible. Now, I know better.
