What a finish.  Unbelievable.  I expect number 42 for the Saints will hear about proper tackling techniques.

Haven't watched a game since Crapernick took a knee and nothing was or has been done by the NFL. I watch college ball now.

I too have watched much less NFL (not college) due to the kneelers.

But being a former player and big lifetime football fan, I still have watched a little, and the playoffs are supposed to be the best games of the year.

So please don't think those of us who watch a little are unpatriotic or kneeler sympathizers.

Couple more weeks and it over anyway, this year.

Anyone betting against the Tom Brady machine..... better be getting long odds.

This thread:

meathead:  NFL game talk

A couple of replies: game talk

Then (in no particular order):
I didn't watch.
I don't watch.
Used to watch.  Don't anymore.
What you talkin' 'bout with that insult?
I'd rather do anything than watch NFL.

This is all kind of like:

I just bought a Valkyrie!  The power; wow!

Yeah, Valkyries, they're awesome.

Harrumph! I ride a Harley.

I'd never be caught dead on a Honda!

Jap crap.  Unpatriotic.

Who's unpatriotic?

I rode a Valkyrie once.  Then a Valkyrie rider expressed admiration for a Dnepr motorcycle; then others did too!  I sold my Valkyrie after that.

I even watch Canadian football from time to time.

It's a bit confusing with the receivers and backs running toward the line before every snap.

And that quarter mile deep end zone is pretty strange too.  They can actually score catching a pass out in the parking lot.   Grin

I can understand the confusion for people who have watched US-rules football their entire lives.  It's a slightly different game with a slightly lower skill level due to the smaller market and smaller player salaries, but I'm certainly no less entertained by a well-matched CFL game than by a good NFL game.  I've never watched college football, so have no opinion on the entertainment value of those games.  I'll usually watch 2 or 3 NFL playoff games, and more often than not, I'll watch the Super Bowl.  The half-time show is often as worthwhile as the game itself, and makes the Grey Cup half-time show look amateurish, like they spent all their money on the singing talent and have nothing left over for fancy lights, staging, etc.

Never been much of an NFL fan. Ever. Just never been my thing. Watch some games now and then and this year with all the garbage coming out of the League even less.

But I did see the end to the Vikings/Saints game.

As I said I'm not a fan of the NFL nor any team so my assessment of the game and play isn't relevant to being a fan of either.

It looked to me that the "missed" tackle was intentional for some reason. You can't miss that bad even in the pee wee league. Lots of lead changes in the game. Did the Saint's defense attempt to quietly throw the game? I read that NBC is going to cover the kneeling during the Anthem during the Super Bowl. Is it possible they (NFL teams and various players) don't want to be put in that position?

Just saying that the "missed" tackle was so outlandish that the entire game deserves a second look.

that same Db is the one who had an interception which led to NO getting the led.  some forums are saying the point spread was 5 pts. a tie and the bookies win.  has to be the worst tackle attempt ever in the NFL with the game on the line.

Along with not being a fan I assume you didn’t play much either. We had a halfback that would make tacklers whiff on a regular basis. Believe me, not one Saints player wanted to lose that game.  coolsmiley

Watch the play. The receiver is in the air, not in a position to make anyone "whiff" but actually quite vulnerable, and the defender, at the moment of the catch, ducks and steps to the left. I did play quite a lot of High School football which is why I consider that play suspect and the move (missed tackle), for what ever reason, bad enough to review the entire game.

The defensive back was not playing the ball (well enough), and couldn't be sure he would not hit the receiver early, and thus draw an interference call (with seconds left in the game, you do not want to give them a big penalty and a 1st down).  He ducked the hit to avoid a penalty.  There was a small crowd there, and unfortunately, he also took out the only other guy on his team who had a chance to take out the receiver after he caught the ball.

It was not a stellar play, but I don't think he was throwing the game or trying to influence the spread.

That's what I saw.

I agree. Look close, he is getting there early.
I am sure just before that play, the coaches were telling the defenders to NOT get a pass interference call!

he should have slowed down BEFORE getting there a tad bit early and just made a simple tackle vs. whiffing.  He was too agressive getting there just a tad bit early when he should have just slowed his speed down a few steps and made a simple tackle.    Yah, heard the coaches were telling defenders to NOT get there early for a penalty to put them in field goal range.

even if he caught it and tackled there, good chance a field goal would have been made but better that or penalty then whiffing....

NBC plans to televise any players who refuse to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl, but there may be nothing to show.

It appears that NFL players are no longer taking a knee during the national anthem, namely because none of the teams with still-active protesters has qualified for the postseason.

I'll admit I turned the tv off when I saw a dirtbag take a knee.

I'm glad the networks stopped showing said dirtbags, for the most part.

I enjoy football.

I'm not going to let previously mentioned dirtbags rob me of something I enjoy.

I don't know what the percentage of players are dirtbags, but estimating 10%, leaves 90% that are not.

Rodger Goddell could have handled it much better.

at the beginning of the year,  who would have ever imagined that the lonely Vikings would be in the playoffs, let alone one game away from the Super Bowl?

If no one wants to watch the NFL games, maybe a little lingerie football league will interest some on here?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkunqNGgyTA

these ladies, using that term loosely, sure know how to HIT and am surprised their league allows such AFTER the play violence of hitting, etc.
