Opinions wanted on Valkyrie purchase

Before I bought my Interstate 18 years ago, I looked at all 3 versions and decided on the Interstate as I was coming from an '81 Goldwing. I wanted the radio, the fairing and a better backseat for my wife to ride with me.  I also have a Tourer in the garage (my son's) that I do ride occasionally.  My preference is always the Interstate.  And if you only have one, you'll never know the difference between the 3 versions, so go with what you want - especially if you find one with the pod fog lights and a CB (unobtanium).   

But no matter which you pick, you will not be able to wipe the smile off of your face when you ride.

Thanks for all the welcomes and responses. Oh, and the great stories as well. Both of the stories (KUGO and Jess) could have turned out so much worse. Thank God they did not, which puts them into the funny story category.

Like I said, I found an IS in Maine, but weekends are booked for a few weeks. Hopefully, the cold weather will keep anyone from it until I can get there.

About those belts that fasten your child to your back:  They are great for keeping your child from falling off, but keep in mind that if you are in a crash and you leave the bike, tumbling or sliding down the road, your kid is going to be your back's air bag or skid plate.  I'd rather my kid separate from me and only have to scrub off or absorb the energy of their own mass.

The belt I'm thinking of doesn't attach the child to me. It has handles that he can hold on to, just so he has a solid grip on something, rather than just an armrest. Great tips, though. Thanks. I like the modified footpeg setup. I'm an auto tech with a fair amount of fabrication experience, so I'll see what I have to do once I make a purchase and size him on it. And full gear will be mandatory.

   

I had one of the belts when my grandson was much younger. Very nice. Like having handles on your jacket. I got mine on Twisted Throttle web site. Very good investment for the years we used it. Main ingredient here though being the purchase of The best bike ever built IMHO.  98 Black and chrome Tourer ( their the fastest)

If the one in Maine doesn't work out I have knowledge of a super low mileage creampuff with custom everything in MN that will be for sale.
