Contrast that with the Democrats who all march in lockstep and put their party first with its dishonest blabberings. They don't even qualify for that old saying "Don't bother me with the truth, my mind is made up"  They have no mind for us, the citizens.  They only have mind for the illegals and their votes.

I found it rather telling that so many Democrat reps chose to bring illegal aliens as their honored guests instead of honest hard working American citizens.

would have been great if that Ice agent Trump honored would have arrested them on the spot.  Grin

I was truly impressed last night and am impressed with the statements above. It was the kind of State of the Union Speech that should be able to be given, no smoke and mirrors and future plans that are just pure posturing with no real intent on delivering.  Every morning this guy wakes up thinking what can I do to make this country better for all citizens and tirelessly goes about trying to make it happen.   He is not always smooth about the process, but as someone I respect has stated this is what fighting the swamp looks like.  I have though noticed a more civil Trump in the past few months though.  Perhaps this is because the established Repubs finally caught on to the Russian hoax and how they have been played for most of the past year by the Deep State.   Their enthusiasm and raucous applause for him last night did not fall silent on my senses.

Big elections this fall.  For those running against Dems that unfortunately have no positive message or any clue as to how to move this country along, just show a commercial.  Have clips of Trump praising the military, first reponders and police, Ji Seong Ho holding those crutches high, In God we Trust, a call for unity to get the Countries work down.  Then pan to those sitting down with those sour and angry hate filled faces and simply state  " Do you really want this?"

I fear the 2018 elections.  The Dems, lead by Schumer, Pelosi, Clinton who won't go away, Obama who won't go away, and the media have been relentless on Trump.   They've attached everything negative to him and detached him from anything positive.  If the house and senate lose numbers, it'll even get worse and in 2020 we will have a democrat running the show who open our borders and give away our wealth.

BTW:  I thought the speech was very good.

I'm not worried.  Conventional wisdom has been blasted away in past two years. Remember 2016 - Dems going to win big, everything.  I guess that did not happen.  Generic poll that had Dems up by 12 or 13 in Nov/Dec. has now dropped to 2.  The economy will rip along, people will see take home pay going up ( already happening ).  Higher wages more mobility to better jobs is very strong.  The Dems have no message except to resist good times and say Trump is an oger.  They may have run their course with victim and grievance groups, but will always look for more, and if there is not one there they will make one of course.

Another thing that is happening big league is that Trump is showing the Repubs how to fight back and message better, something that has been so frustrating for so long.   The Repubs are now accumulating a very good record of real achievement and success, and can carry that with them.  Hopefully a lesson was learned to stay away from Roy Moore candidates, I think it was.  We shall see, but I am optimistic.

Pelosi had a couple of tin tacks under her dentures.

Cut taxes. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Let the tax payers have more of their wages in their pay packet. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Companies bring money into the USA. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Companies state they will and have invested more money in the USA. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Let's make USA safer. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Let's export energy to the rest of the world. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Lower American - African unemployment. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Lower Hispanic unemployment. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Give thanks to those in the Armed Forces and first responders. Democrats sit and look pissed.

Etc, etc, etc...............

Democrats looked like (choose your own description).  Evil

Will their supporters take note? Unlikely.

Why not???

Unlikely they watched nor tried to read the words the President spoke.

I have a descriptor I'd like to use but I've been told by this forum I can't use it so I will bite my tongue.

Democrats looked like (choose your own description).

Slouching disgruntled McDonalds workers... the kind where you leave without
getting anything because you don't want those people fixing your food...

Will their supporters take note? .

I am totally dumbfounded about the people I saw on teevee even having supporters.

With approval ratings for Congress in the 13-19 % range, it doesn't appear there is much support for any of them. How any of them get reelected is an indictment of our political system.

i watched the entire state of the union address. I figured the dems would stay in their seats most of the time. But it was very disrespectful to stay seated for those poor parents that lost their beautiful girls to the violence of ms13 and the hero's Trump mentioned. I even saw pictures of Pelosi appearing to chastise another Democrat that dare stand for Trump. I saw a few that stood up. I think I saw Sen Manchin stand.

I can't remember the Republicans being this disrespectful during Obama's addresses. I never watched him. Couldn't stand to see that man on TV. So if it happened I don't know but if it did it would have been all over the news.

The polls afterward showed that republican response to Trump's speach were overwellming possitive. But independents were at 75% possitive. Wow that's a bunch. If this number stands the dems are in big trouble this fall.

I personally can't imagine anyone wanting to vote for a bunch of disrespectful, anti American, selfish and self serving people that don't give a crap for the people they represent. If ol Chucky cared about his constituents he would at least stood for the parents of the two dead girls that lived in his state. His actions and the action of the rest of the Dems show they don't care for anyone but themselves....

Did you read what I said?  I NEVER watched Obama, couldn't stand to hear the man talk. So I don't remember a group of Republicans saying they wouldn't go to the address. Nor do I remember hearing about them not standing during his addresses. If they had the media would have been all over it.  Oh I remember some of the GOP not respecting Obama but not on the scale of the dems now. For the record I didn't agree with a lot of what was said about Obama. So if I'm wrong about the GOP in the case of the address prove it. What the Democrats did the other night was disrespectful to not only the president (I don't think he cares) but they showed  NO respect to the families of the dead girls, Otto's family,or the hero's present.

Is this level of disrespect OK with you? It isn't to me when either side does it.

But in his defense, he was being perfectly truthful.  Our former president never made a single speech when he didn't lie.  At least while he was president (I never watched any of his speeches when in IL govt).

Holy crap did you even read my posts? Yes I agree that Obama was disrespected by some of the GOP but not to the level Trump has been by dems.

OK I did a quick search on google. My question for Google was "did the Republicans stay seated during Obama's state of the union addresses".  The  google responses were. 'Democrats scoff, boo, grown, glowed at trumps State of the union" and "'Democrats refuse to stand for trump arrival at state of the union". So I answered my own question. If the GOP had done it during Obama's addresses Google should have found it.

I watched every address for decades

To the best of my recollection, until the last 2 speeches (Trumps 1st really wasnt a state of the union as he was just elected) there were always a few times where the opposing party stood and applauded, even if just when the POTUS was introduced and when he said God Bless America.  Usually those times included when Clinton or Bush asked for across the aisle cooperation,  Never saw the kind of scowling faces that I saw Tuesday.  As a solid Democrat I would have remembered disrespect shown to Clinton or Obama during those speeches. You may remember differently and that is ok by me

Could not imagine O'Neal  doing that while Reagan spoke cause it never happened.  They were political enemies but drinking buddies who accomplished much for our nation, Too bad there is no such Democrat with spine today.

So far, surprisingly the informal poll of my american black, carribean and african american clients is 100% for Trump  This is a big surprise as many are solid union folks.  The Italians and Albanians also are solidly pro Trump  The Yemeni's  and Syrian jews that own the deli's and 99C store both mentionedr disrepect, the middle eastern folks are big on respect it seems

It seems once a person actually has saved her money to buy a house, she appreciates what it takes to keep it and really are annoyed when government treats them badly

Unfortunately tenants outnumber owners in this city 100 to 1   so the law is perverted.

Yup... Rep Wilson was totally correct in his assessment of Obama (pbuh)'s claim that Obamacare would not give benefits to illegal aliens.

Although I also disagree with his break in decorum.

Some day I might get bored enough to go dig through Obama (pbuh)'s old State of the Union speeches to see how Republicans behaved in general.

My earlier statement "see what you want" stands. I've watched all of the State of the Union addresses since close to '76. (I might have missed some while in the Navy). If you truly think that rebublicans stood and clapped for Obama as you suggest you are mistaken. There has been a steady decline for civility in politics for years. It didn't just begin one year ago.

BTW, your argument of I never watched his speeches and never saw that on the news I watch. Says something of your bias.

I'd say about half stood. As for the subject matter that's another conversation completely.

At about 24.40 minutes all stand.

At about 30.25 all stand.

These are 2 moments I see from a very quick scan of the video.

This past Tues was very different with the pissed looking Dems staying firmly seated MOST OF THE TIME.

Pretty dramatic interview with the parents and talking about the disrespect of the dems. I agree with many and the parents even if you dont like the president dont show disrespect to the families especially the ones that have endured such a loss.

Trump's people knew this would happen.

Every single person invited for the spotlight clearly warranted standing & clapping for their story, apolitically.

They knew a failure to stand and show respect or support or sympathy would make the Ds look small.

It worked.

Add to that, the D's could probably not know in advance what people had been invited or their individual stories.  So they could not prepare or decide in advance if they would acknowledge any of them, as a committed block of Ds (to show unity).

So they had to make it up on the fly, and none wanted to be standing alone or draw crazy Nancy's ire, so it was safer to just sit most everything out.  They're not big on thinking for themselves (or probably any good at it).  If it's not in the leftist playbook, they're easily confused.

Unfortunately tenants outnumber owners in this city 100 to 1   so the law is perverted.

That's an incredible figure.  Let's buy a house with rental units.  It'll give us income into retirement and something to leave the kiddies.  We'll talk off-line.

But, if anybody reading wants to form some corp. and buy an even bigger building (more apts = cheaper per apt.) for more income.

No, this is not what I do for a living.  Not scam here.  e-mail or message me.  If Evan's not in, at least we can use him as our lawyer.

The Republicans treated Obama with about 75% of the disdain the Democrats showed Trump.

They didn't stand up and applaud, maybe not as much, but they did/didn't do it too.  And yes, there was the You Lie outburst.

But Obama made the SOTU speeches politically....... combative, for lack of a better term.  Yes, he lied.  Even a Supreme Court Justice mouthed the words "That's Not True" during a SOTU Speech.  And, the outburst You Lie, did turn out to be factual.  He belittled the opposition in one of speeches, blaming them for his inabilities.

I know that one argument is that Trump is a liar, but look at the difference in the lies.  Trump lies about attendance to a gathering, Obama lied about policy, about how he said he would do the job, told the lie of the decade, etc.  And then all the Clinton lies.  And now we're finding out about how they used gov't agencies to cover up some lies and perpetuate other lies.  But still no evidence of any wrong doing by Trump.
