I found one to buy, however it has been sitting for 10yrs in a garage. so doesn't run. however the bike is complete, except painted a different color and aftermarket exhaust. 48k miles.
I could get it for $600 and a 3 hr one way ride to pick it up.
I know it was only made one yr, so would it be worth it to restore at that price?

CD that link is for a CBX which are also rare and collectors item.
CB1100F was made only one year, the last of the inline 4s,  then the V-4s came.

The 110-horsepower CB1100F was a cruise missile. Rarely does the word flickable get used in reference to a better-than-liter-sized bike, but motorcycle journalists of the time used exactly that word to describe the CB1100F, which steered like a bike of half its displacement. Honda achieved this minor miracle by placing the DOHC-4 1100 engine in the previous CB900F frame. It handled magnificently in its new skin, but not perfectly. Care had to be exercised in cornering to keep the tires hooked up with the tarmac, but on exit the CB1100F was in its element. During more subdued riding, its prodigious but flat torque curve meant the rider had no need to fiddle with the shift lever. The 1100F was rideable in almost any gear, at almost any (legal) speed.

The DOHC-4 Hondas were ahead of their time and at the head of the class. The lap times and quarter-mile numbers they produced would be respectable today, but they were ridiculous in their era. Honda had set a bar with these machines that would move only incrementally over the next three-plus decades.  https://www.randakks.com/honda-dohc-4.html

ok. sadly I will pass on this. I was reminded that I already have to many projects and it would just sit, taking up space for years. If anybody wants the craigs list ad posted let me know. it is not my ad. it is located in Milford, Pa. The guy told me he actually got it for free when buying the nighthawk. lady said just take it she wanted it gone also.
if one wanted to part it out, just the small fairing sells for $400-500 on ebay.

Most definitely!!
That is becoming a rare bike.
Lesa and I have two CB900C Hondas and paid more for either one....a lot more.
Figure a grand to get it in top riding condition. Will probably not but just in case.
You will still be well ahead of the game if it becomes a re-sell.
Hopefully it is a low mile bike. figure on cam chain tensioner adjustment and a new seal in addition to all the normal freshen up items. Randakk has the best carb kits. Not cheap but the best.
Starter clutch noise and clutch noises. Both can be repaired.

I loved my '81 CB750F (that I bought new in 1985 in Pensacola). Unfortunately, someone is Jacksonville FL also liked it, but he didn't get very far - I had the wiring harness replaced after that. Traded it in for my '94 PC800.

The one change I would make about the statement on the CB1100F  - while it is true they used the CB900F frame, they decreased the rim sizes on both ends by 1 inch to help deal with the increased HP.
