Ok so my blood test was bad yesterday. Got to go repeat on Monday. Have to admit I was a tad discouraged. I think it was occupying a booth in the chemo ward makes one feel like the end is near Shocked  even though I was only getting saline fluid.

Good thing Keith (farside) tempted me with a short ride to one of our favorite breakfast places because a ride on a Valkyrie can cheer up just about anyone!  We met up with Mac (Crazy Horse) and Keith's neighbor and had a great time.

The Cobra bike was running strong and smooth, it's just hard to complain about anything while astride such a great machine. Judy and I would have loved to ride farther but we were good, just to eat and back.

My doctor seemed to think the middle of June is doable to get my blood sustainable and strong enough to make the ride to Inzane, so that's the goal right now.

I was ill enough to get it looked into a couple of years ago... cleared up before the Drs found
anything wrong. Sitting in a waiting room full of people who probably aren't going to get
better is discouraging...

You've been in my prayers numerous times... you're getting many prayers from VRCC folks...

Chris, I find out this Thursday what the results are of my blood test. The PSA jumped a bit over two points in short order so they're doing a 4K test for prostate cancer. It has me concerned.

Smiley Jeff so glad you and Judy made it to breakfeast. Yes it is a feast at Gators' Cafe in Lill'ol Baker, FL. And a nice surprise to have Crazyhorse make it down too.  It was great meeting you Mac and glad you are in the area now.  Undecided Mac, sorry you couldn't make the ride after breakfeast, next time. Bill and I had a great ride and home by noon. Jeff we'll catch up on Monday! Always positive and always better after a Valkyrie ride with friends!  coolsmiley

So far I've been fortunate....probably blessed is a better word. I become an octogenarian in three weeks, but considering where the roads have led the last 80 years, I'm doing quite well. Still alive and kicking, got a short ride in today, great weather for it. My neighbor down the street said being alive is better than the alternative, he didn't seem to understand when I told him no it isn't. Was a good chance to share with him just what I was talking about.  cooldude

John, if I can ask, what is a 4K test?  $4 thousand, or is that the name?  When my PSA went a little past high normal, for my age (I can't remember exactly, but maybe 2 over high normal), I got a 12 strike bunghole biopsy.  It wasn't the worst thing I ever experienced, but it wasn't much fun either, and the passing blood afterwords (and clear damage to the old prostate itself).  Then 7-10 days of worry.  Then entirely negative.  I don't think the biopsy cost $4K, but I might have rather paid my share of the insurance for a fancy blood test (if that's what it is), than go through that biopsy.  About 10-12 years ago (and maybe this test is newer?).

Jeff, you are in my thoughts as well.  I'm not a fan of hospitals.  There's too many sick people there, and bad bugs floating around.  I have a trick that works for me; whenever I have to go, I take a book I have already started, and bury my nose (and mind) in the story.  They had to leave me on a gurney in the OR hallway once (in the humiliation gown) for an hour and a half while they dealt with an emergency.  I was very glad to have my book with me (March AFB).  The waiting was worse than the procedure.

Jess, here's a link to the 4k blood test. https://www.google.com/search?q=4k+blood+test&oq=4k&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j35i39j69i60l3j0.5383j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

As for that gown of humiliation, a nurse once told me it was invented by a guy named Seymour Hiney.  Grin

Thanks John.

I know they feel the need to have complete and easy access to your whole body.

But I swear just walking around buck naked would be more dignified (and less humiliating) than wearing that open-ass shorty mumu dress.  Not for women of course, they look good in dresses.

It they're really worried about men showing their junk, just give them a clean white sock (or a knee sock, if necessary).

Chris,
It is great that you got time with friends and out for a ride however short.  Having a good positive attitude and keeping the joys of life fresh in your mind is half the battle.  Remember, many here are wishing a full and speedy recovery for you.

John,
The jump in PSA could be a false alarm. .... I hope that is the result for you.  However, from my experience, prostate cancer is not such a big deal.  You have been through much worse.  My PSA jumped a few points, I had the biopsy, and then had the prostate robotically removed May 17, 2016.  Three weeks later I was at Inzane 16.  I did not ride that week as much as I normally would,... but I did ride some.  I even led a ride of several hours on Monday that week.  The biopsy was probably the worst.  It is uncomfortable and pissing blood for a few days afterward is not confidence inspiring.  Still, not much to be very concerned about unless more than the prostate is involved with cancer.  I don't tell God what to do but I have offered up a prayer.

Chris I'm glad that you got to get out for a ride.

Wind therapy really is the best therapy.

John, fellows like you are an inspiration to me.

I sincerely hope that I am still riding when I'm 80.

Guys,

Spooky topics on here! I know y'all are concerned, as I am with my own 'items of interest' stemming from the 'health and well-being' folks... I totally agree with the wind therapy component of health and recovery, though, so I'm delighted to see when y'all are getting out and about, riding some, meeting-up with friends and sharing in this wonderful experience. Good on y'all!!!
