Well, work offered one of those "one time only early retirement severance packages" for those 60 and older which when looking over he past year cuts were coming and you better look hard at your options. So I pulled the trigger, now to figure out what I wanted to do when I grow up. Ultimately number 1 was more saddle time which sorta bites living in Michigan full time. So, I just signed for one of these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb3TA2B3HSg and I see some reasonable places down by Pensacola to base out of during the colder months. Of course if Joe keeps posting those ride pics I may be pulling it into his back yard.  2funny

Dagwood,

Congrats on the retirement! And, going the way you have chosen, you have so many wonderful options and opportunities! Pensacola area is nice, but, the Smoky Mountains are also fab! Heck, all of North America is truly worth exploring.

If this is a full-time lifestyle move you're undertaking, then you don't have to live anywhere... you can live everywhere!!! If this is more of a seasonal excursion type of adventure, you can still select locations all around the continent for visits from time to time...

Whatever you decide, get ready for the time of you life!!! You've worked all of your adult life getting ready for this... and, now it's 'show-time'!!! Good luck...

Dag..congrats on the retirement!  Winter here with nothing to do is the tough part. This winter, and the past few haven't been bad. Cold yes, snow, pretty minimal. Wouldn't have wanted to own a new snowmobile the past few years. I have lived here all my life. I live about 28 miles south of you and I think you guys had less snow than we did? Winter gives me time to work on bikes so that's how I pass some of the time.

Find something to do! A sudden stop from work, planned or not can be a little unsettling. I can only set still so much and I get a little  crazy2. Don't become a chair jockey, keep moving. Nows the time to do things you have wanted to. You know, the things you usually think of while at work.  Now you can! Good luck!

Don't forget AZ in the winter. Lots of great riding out here too.
