fellow valkyrie rider reviews this bike.  Wife says I can get one used, of course,  if I sell my 250cc scooter.  Will be taking a trip to a dealer to test ride come spring/summer.

Anyone have one or goods/bads of it?  Ihear that 670cc parallel twin gets near 70 mpg even better than my 250cc scooter at 63 avg mpg.

I like the looks of this one all decked out with matching blacked out exhaust NON chrome:

There is a 2014 for sale here locally that was bought new last summer. Only 800 miles @ $4500.
Warranty till 7/21. Says it gets 67 mpg. Not a bagger

I have been in a two or more month period of adding a smaller, feet forward somewhat sporty bike, and this ctx 700 is on my short list.  In fact this past Thursday I was ready to call this gent up and tell him I would be down on Saturday.

https://louisville.craigslist.org/mcy/d/immaculate-2014-honda-ctx-700/6523002187.html  I decided to wait until Friday morning to see if I really wanted it. Friday went by, woke up Saturday morn., looked at craigslist and newly posted was a 2016 Indian scout and now my fancy has went that way.  That may change by tomorrow.

Folks that have the ctx 700 really like them.  Typical Honda build quality and indeed 65 mpg a good thing with just a little over 3 gal. tank.  They are torque y and fast off the line but run out of steam at 80. This is the major reason people sell them to get a more powerful bike, but I already have those.  Zero to sixty in 5 seconds, pretty good for a 670 50 hp machine.  They love the dct but equal amount of folks go for the  6 speed manual.   Some like the faired as I do and others can have the naked.

I wish Honda would take that 1000 cc African Twin dct and put it in a bike like the CTX 700, but just a bit bigger and give it a shaft or belt.

this is under 4K and near new hardly any miles on it and local.

needs to warm up above 40 degrees pushing 50 and if still for sale,  will be test riding it if still for sale in the next few weeks.

https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2014-honda-ctx700-still-like/6518069669.html

Honda OEM hard plastic bags and aftermarket windshield and GIVI lockable luggage rack for helmet on back and good to go.  I really want them to go down in price a few more years though and more miles to that 3K range even though new is 7K msrp.  If can get one at 3K with accessories added on I want will be pushing that 4K range.  The one in milwaukee ad is bone stock it appears.

Then, I can add this LOUDER exhaust and make it sound bad to the bone even though it is somewhat of a pooch bike.  I could really like the near 70 mpg though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2MHvbNfF_E

or this louder and raspier exhaust by radiant (skip past 2 minute mark)?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvkeU4yU9P4&t=3s

or this yoshimura one can be loud and even LOUDER taken off back end.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H61jc3nSHdA

All reviews on  youtube said does not stand out in anyone category (besides mpg)  just overall a well rounded pretty comfy stock cruiser bike that is reliable and well made and handles well.   I like the looks especially with hard sidebags and taller windshield and GIVI trunk on back.  That sewing machine stock exhaust though is sort of wimpy.

finally got to a stealership and sit on one but no test drive, was 38 degrees and rainy/sleeting out.  Will have to wait for winter to get done here mid April in WI another 3-4 inches expected tonight and thru Sunday night... tickedoff  It sat really comfy and ergos were good.

Bike felt super lightweight apparently the engine is slanted down and LOW so center of gravity, to me anyway, makes it feel like a 300lb. bike vs. 500lber..  I could care less how fast 0 to 60 mph it goes but am sure is adequate for passing if need be am sure it will go 90 mph if needed to.

Dealer said they do not sell well and thinks soon they will no longer be made so residual/resell value will remain high.  Undecided on automatic but most are automatic and/or paddle shifters on left handlebar which I guess I could get used to but really would prefer 6 speed normal clutch.  The mid 60 mpg would be nice though for a commuter bike.  Their over 5K asking price though for bone stock was too high for my blood looking at biuying for 3500 or so with accessories like taller windshield for sure and side bags and/or luggage rack on back.  Just have to be patient for one turning up not a stealership but private party sale.

I looked up new msrp and is near 8K but no idea on rebates, if any.   Seems crazy high for a mid sized cruiser to me.    Sat also on a ctx1300 and ergos were good on that as well used for 10 grand.  That new honda rebel 500cc is a dinky little thing as well as that little pit bike called the honda grom 125cc.

One bike I did sit on was the new yamaha full dresser 1900cc vtwinkie,  man oh man, was that fairing front end EXTREMELY top heavy was a beat to even turn the handlebars and get it off the sidestand made our 800lb. Valks feel like a dirtbike, well almost...

This summer Honda is going to release the 750cc version.
Like a lot of Honda's these sell well overseas.

There are plenty of CTX 700's on the used market for very reasonable prices.

At least on our local Craigslist.

Interesting,  wonder why?

Yah, with 65 avg mpg overseas where guessing gas is even higher in price,  is a smart and easy solution to high gas prices.  When I first heard that ANY 700cc mid size cruiser can get much over 50 avg mpg,  I was stunned and in disbelief since most 250cc scooters only get 65 avg mpg, give or take a few mpg. To get much over 65 avg mpg,  you have to go down to a 150cc on down scooter engine and we all know 150cc is not going to cut it doing 60 mph or above.

I really like the all black color and get rid of the chrome exhaust going aftermarket and louder and shorter/smaller would sound and look nicer.  Is on my short list of looking and getting rid of 2 of my older cycles for this one.

yep, pricing has come down to under 4K used for most with very low mileage 2-3 years old is all.  I called a honda dealer today and they had a new 2015 silver one (blah) carryover ctx700 for only 4500 new, but then he said add 400 dealer fees turned me off.  msrp is like 6800 bucks though so hard to believe over 2200 bucks off full msrp and honda still making any money on them or the dealer?

like said, also heard honda not making them soon since did not sell well for some odd reason.  There is a black one local but the guy will not go lower than 4300 with extras being a 2014 6 speed in black with extras like windshield and passenger backrest/luggage rack on back.  If still for sale which it probably will be since has been listed for a few months already, might offer 3500 in October to see what he says, cannot hurt?

Another dealer has a used 2015 but bought at auction in black also asking 3500 but 22000 miles on it already with rip in seat and a few cosmetic issues bone stock. I would rather have on under 5000 miles being only 2-3 years old for that 3500-3600 range.

"did not sell well for some odd reason."

Maybe because it's so ugly a dog wouldn't come near it if you tied a bone to it.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I have seen a black paint job ctx700 and with the rest of the bike all blacked out besides the chrome exhaust, it looks sharp IMO.

I would never spend 8K and up though for the ctx1300, but for 3500 the ctx700 would make a nice 1-up 60+ mpg everyday commuter cruiser.

I bought one in late may from a fireman just north of me in St. Mary's, Ohio.  2015 ctx 700 dct with the Honda bags.  My Honda dealer in Troy, OH for 115 bucks had the matching ion blue bag cover. It only had 4k miles,  ( he wanted to back to a silverwing scooter for better wind protection on his commute from Marysville, OH. )  He was motivated and let it go for just 4k.

My impressions are very light, and pretty good cornering. Suspension is better than I thought it would be.  The dct works as advertised making a quick minor shifting noise from gear to gear.  MPG on my first tank in mostly touring mode was 66 mpg, however when traveling in a city you hit 6th gear at 37 mph and it seems to lug.  After that I switched entirely to sport mode where you do not hit sixth until about 60 mph.  My fuel mileage dropped all the way down to 64 mpg  and the ride was much more fun and responsive.   The cee baileys tall screen works quite well.  It also has the kuryakyn mini boards which makes it more comfortable.  The riding position works well for me.  Another note is that at 55 mph it feels like 65 mph would on my valk or cross country, although this could just be me.  I have had it to 80 and it is stable.

I use it mostly for errands, or down to my friends Harley shop 5 miles away,  or a Sunday or evening joy ride to slow back country roads at slower speeds for sight seeing.  My friends actually state they like the way it looks, sure is different.  It is quick off the line.  If I was in a large city, this would be a fantastic bike for stop and go traveling with no clutching and the fuel mileage.  You say Honda is not making it any more, maybe they are just skipping a year to clear out inventories.  I see others in my area.  I bet it sells well in Europe and Asia.   Anyway these are my impressions.
