Out past Mars ain't no speed limit -Mojo

« on: March 13, 2018, 12:37:20 PM »

Just looking for someone with actual  experience with Markel motorcycle insurance.

My policy with Progressive expires later this month and I got a online quote for 1/2 as much as my renewal with progressive, slightly better coverage from Markel for $191 vs $403 with progressive.

Thanks in advance

I've had Markel for years. Been without a claim so long(actually never had one) that my deductible is zero. Full coverage this year was $135/yr. with an extra $5k for accessories.

I've had markel for 15 years now.
I've also had 2 claims in those 15 years.
after calling them they were here to give me an estimate within 3 days and cut me a check right away.
as far as my insurance going up, it didn't.
very happy with markel and no problems when you have to use them.

good to know, but do you know if Marel allows 5 cycles on one policy?  I have Progressive as well and they only allow as of now in WI 4 cycles on one policy.  Spring is coming and hoping they have changed their policy to allow 5 or more onto a single policy.  When I added a brand new single cycle policy for my cheapest 250cc scooter it was double that of the most expensive near 7K honda valkyrie interestate on the 4 cycle policy.  Stupid!

That's something you'll have to talk to markle about. I'm just a poor piper and can only aford 1bike at a time. So I can't answer that question.

I've had Markel for 3 plus years but no claims in that time. I can say they are the most reasonably priced insurance I've had on three bikes but never tried to insure more than that. Number 4 (yeah, so I bought another v-twinkie problem child) that I will be picking up next week is a long term project that I won't insure until it is close to roadworthy.
