130 miles. Wow! Sums it all up in one word. Going from the Valkyrie to this new Goldwing is like changing from your old CJ5 and getting in a modern SUV. It is easier to control than I expected. At mile 3, I had to get on the brakes hard and yes, I was reaching for the clutch and gear shift lever, but I adapted to the DCT pretty quick The bike is very smooth and easy to control at parking lot speeds. I was really worried about that. The bike feels much lighter than the Valk, but I think the Valk is steadier in heavy side winds. The brakes are better than the Valkyrie. I think I'm going to really like this bike. I have lots of studying to do. I still haven't figured out how to turn the radio on or off. The electronics are pretty extensive.

Here's a picture I took off Fackbook. A beautiful pair for sure. Looks like he cleaned his garage as well.

I forsee much lighter saddlebags in your future John. Way less tools and spare parts required, at least for a couple of years.

Glad you are digging the new bike. The technological improvements are amazing. I will never get rid of the bobber Valk because a much as my wife and I love the KTM, that Valkyrie will ALWAYS be the coolest of the two bikes!

Thanks Dave for posting the picture. It has been so long since I have posted a picture I don't remember how. I am technologically challenged enough with the bike for now. Thank you everyone for the support. George, I still carry a few tools, (never know when I might need to work on someone else bike) tire plugs and a compressor. I wont be needing any spare parts (maybe more polish). Good thing because of less storage on the RedWing. I can put two helmets in the Valkyrie trunk. I can't even get one in the Wing.

How are ya. Hoping to see you at Inzane. That is not Dave's Bike. It is mine. Dave got a new-to-him Blue F6B. So we have red and blue, but still looking for a white bike, jut to be patriotic.

Sorry about that John, I knew that but it seems I am getting old and confused... Looking forward to seeing you in VA as well and introducing my son to some more Valk Riders. He attended 06 in CO and got the youngest rider recognition award on his 97 Shadow. How does Donna like it?

No problem Gary. I know how the "getten old" stuff is. Looking forward to Inzane and meeting your son. Donna has only been on the back for about three miles, so we will see. She seems to like it. She is excited about the butt heater.

I'll ride my white Spyder to Inzane this year John. We'll look like a 4th of July parade.

Well Rob, with 700 miles on the bike and 250 mile ride, yesterday, with Jim Dale, I can report that I am very happy with the new RedWing. The DCT works great and shifts are very smooth. I have figured out that I need to intervene when passing and so I just shift it back into 5th before overtaking the vehicle in front of me (6th & 7th are overdrive gears, only turning 2500 rpm @70mph in 7th). The stock seats seem to be ok, I haven't done a 400 mile day yet but at 250 miles my butt was still ok. The brakes are great, better than the Valkyrie, it stops quicker with less pressure. The linked brake system is great. The handling and ride are much improved over the Valkyrie. The Goldwing is much more flickable and hold its line through the curves. The Goldwing feels 200 lbs lighter and is much better at parking lot speeds. The Valkyrie is more stable in heavy cross winds. Donna took a 25 mile ride with me and prefers the new RedWing. She likes that it is smoother shifting and rides better. She is not sure about better wind protection. We had a lot of cross wind that day. As for luggage space, two up, you will get by for weekend trips but for extended trips you may need a trailer. I have a Nolan N104 helmet and cannot close the trunk lid on it. The trunk space is 1/2 to 2/3 of what the Valkyrie has and the Saddle bags appear to be a bit smaller. I will survive just fine with a T-bag on the rear seat, but Donna doesn't do the long trips with me. Keep Brenda happy!
