Saturday Dogg came and picked up my 98 Valk.  My two wheeled riding days are over. I don't know what was harder, watching the Valk going up into the trailer or accepting the fact that I have to give up some of what has become part of my life for 40 years.  The saving fact is that I have the trike.  I hung on to the 2 wheeler as long as I could but this leg breaking for the fourth time set the decision.  The ride to Colorado and running the trike down the Dragon, the trike and I meshed. There was a point up in passes that I started feeling as one with the trike, it became an extension of me just as most of the motorcycles have.  My peg dragging days are over but at least I will be able to stay in the wind.  At least I know the 98 will be fixed back up and riden instead of just sitting in the shed with carbs gumming up from not being ridden.  I know Dogg will do the bike justice and get a lot good riding in on it. The Valk went to a good home.  I was sitting on stool with the cast on my leg and leaning on the crutches when Dogg was rolling it in the trailer and my wife walked up and asked if I was going to be ok.  I told her it's all good and I knew an era of my riding career had eneded when the door closed.
Got the hard cast off today, now 5 more weeks in a walking boot.  Time to fix some dings in the paint on the trike, polish the front rim, put the chrome rims on the back , and get her ready to ride to Inzane X.

Pic is when I had it about where I wanted it and before I got a hold of an Interstate Tank.

Goody, I know what you mean.  I also had mixed emotions but realized that I no longer could handle the weight of the Valk.  For me too, it's a door closing but opening a new door.

As you know, i went the sidecar route, it didn't work for me, neither would a trike for the same reasons.

Hopefully I will be able to stay on two wheels for awhile with the Nighthawk.  It won't work for long distance riding, I have the Miata for that.

I'm glad that the trike is going to work for you.  You will still be in the wind as I am.

Goody, glad you are feeling as one with your trike, I've felt that way for the past 10 years, and it gets better every year. There isn't anything I can't do on it that a 2 wheeled Valk can't do except maybe an off road single track, and I haven't seen any Valks in the woods lately. Plus you can always lift the inside wheel (sorta like lifting your leg, if you get my drift). Hope to meet you and do some corner flinging together in the future. It doesn't matter what we ride. It matters that we ride!

That is a beautiful trike Goody. I'm sure it's been hard making the transition but sounds like you are there now. Heck, I've had the I/S over a year now and have never felt like I was one with it. But my standard is a different story.

It will be awhlie before I'm on the trike again probably not until spring.  I just have to figure out how to put a Valk engine in a wheelchair.  As far as the exhaust I told you I had an idea for those headers when you shipped them up here.
