Author Topic: Turn Signal Beeper Help  (Read 2728 times)

I installed the turn signal beeper and it works fine. Tapped the wires under the seat and tucked the beeper in there as well.

On my VTX, I wired it so the beeper would silence while the brakes were applied but I couldn’t identify the correct wire to do so on the Valk.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is a green/yellow wire that goes to the stop light, it connects under the seat and goes to a connector on the left side I believe. This wire connects the front brake light switch and the rear/foot switch and the tail light and you can easily follow the wire from the foot switch if you cannot find it at the connector. A test light can be used to confirm the wire when hitting the brake lever or foot pedal.

Robert,
I tried that GY wire and was able to silence the beeper but only on the left turn signal. The wire that I need for the right TS is the one I can’t identify.
Thank you

I could have sworn I tried this combination previously but I either didn’t make a proper connection to the green/yellow wire or screwed up elsewhere because this time it worked. Brakes silence the beeper. Perfect.

Thank you Robert.

Wrote this up on another forum and thought it may be useful here for someone.

I bought the beeper on eBay, $10.50 shipped- Here’s the link; https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorbike-T...RZGc9v&vxp=mtr

There are others available, including making your own, but this one is the least expensive and it works fine. I placed it under the driver’s seat because it can be too loud if placed elsewhere.

My description assumes you’re standing on the left side of the bike.

After removing the seats, just left of the battery and under the left rear edge of the gas tank, there is a black 12P plug called the Rear Sub Harness in the wiring diagram. Unplug it by pressing down on the top tab while pulling towards the rear.

Strip back a couple of inches of the black insulation wrap to expose the colored wires. You can use the vampire connectors that come with the beeper kit, but they suck. I prefer Posi-Taps as shown in the pic.

Splice one red wire from the beeper harness to an orange wire for the left turn signal and the other to the light blue wire for the right turn signal. If you don’t want the brake to silence the beeper when applied, splice the black to any green wire in the harness.

If you do want the brake silence option, splice the black from the beeper harness to the green with yellow stripe which is for the brake light.

Plug the Rear Sub Harness back in and test the turn signals, front and rear, to ensure they work and you didn’t screw something up. Apply the brakes and the beeping should stop.

If the beeping sounds loudly when one turn signal is on and not as loud when you switch to the opposite side, disconnect the quieter one and find another wire of the same color to tap in to until the volume is equal.

I put one on my old 1999 I/S.  Fortunately, my new Valk has the auto-cancelling signal lights on it.  Mine is an ABS model and it came with the aut-cancelling signal lights.  I don't have to worry about leaving the turn signal on and driving down the road like I used to.   2funny

By chance do you know what part(s) are different that provide for the auto-cancel?
