A drag racing parachute?  Drag my toes on the pavement?  What does $1000 give him?

I seem to recall a number of folks were using Goldwing rotors instead of Valk rotors (new Honda parts), because they were significantly cheaper.  The (correct) Goldwing rotors were a perfect fit, but just a bit skinnier than Valk rotors, but worked perfectly and had the same mileage/use ratings as Valk rotors.  But later the Valk rotors supposedly came down a little in price.

I have no info on aftermarket.

I do know you want to match the same rotors and brake pads, and Honda Valk pads can't be beat for braking, longevity and no noise.

At partzilla.com the newer kind of rear rotor (get the right rotor) is about $300. The older
kind is about $250.

All the front rotors are about $175 each, so, two of those.

I guess the $1000 total includes pads and seals for the calipers and stuff?

I would totally go with the caliper rebuild and get OEM parts.

Does he need the rotors really?

I'd get OEM rotors too, if I needed them. I think other kinds of good rotors, like the EBC ones,
look funny and I have heard they get rusty, but Ida know.

I've got my original front rotors on my 97 Valkyrie, and I use the front brakes like you're
supposed to, and I ride in the mountains a lot.

I've put a "new" rotor on the rear of my bike... the old one got a significant lip around the edge, I
didn't measure it, but I guessed it was worn, and the lip was a drag when removing the caliper to
change tires. My "new" rotor came from eBay (heck, my whole bike came from eBay  Smiley ) off
a low mileage parted-out bike for about $20 or $30... lip free...

How much of a job is he doing? That's a lot of money. I sold a valk with 155K and only replaced the front rotors and a couple of sets of pads. I used 1800 wing rotors with no problems. List all the parts you need and why. I have parts here that are good.

If you do not know what you need , they will sell you the parts that they install. I doubt if Honda would re build a caliper. The liability would be to much. There would be no finger pointing. When I do a brake job , first a tear down , check and measure , then order and rebuild. If (when) the calipers are rebuilt , make sure the seal groove is completely clean. A spot of corrosion will cause the pistons to stick.  There are many places to buy parts. I do on occasion buy from a Honda dealer. Also take the time to flush the brake system. You are almost there now. uglystupid2
