Looking for any additional info on the fender washer mod when installing a CT as just eyeballing it looks like a 1/2" difference from left to right and does it matter, thanks for any info.

I do not remember how many (one or two each side), but I used the same number of washers on each side. The tire is probably not perfectly centered under the fender, so it is probably possible to use a little less (or none) on one side. Size of the tire will make a difference as well.

As I did this a looooooonnnggg time ago, my memory is fuzzy on this, but it seems my fender was not centred, and I used three or more washers on one side to centre it. Because of distance ratios, I think adding one washer will move the fender twice the thickness of the washer or thereabouts.

No need to do both sides, just the right side to get the clearance. I'd sure check first, you may not need it, most of the time just removing the nut cage is all that's required.

Unless you are hitting the fender, there is no reason to play with it.

Maybe not functionally, but I am a draftsman, and things like plumb/level and symmetry MUST be fixed or I'll develop a tic.

My first CT was a square sided one. I did the back nut cage before mounting it. It cleared. But noticed that with two up, it rub the front one (right side only). Remove that cage. Didn't help. Ended up doing the washers. Real pain as I have a IS, had to remove the trunk to move the side bar. Used three washers it I remember correctly.
the other 2 CT's have not had that issue, more rounded shoulders. I have not removed the washers, should.
Mount the tire (after removing the rear cage), take her for a ride. If you rub, then do the washer thing. I didn't rub till we did the two up. So if you do two up. Make sure you do that test.
