Hey All,

No its not a "fix" but something to help that once in a while "Oh crap" missed 1st to 2nd shift that we've all done ( and a quirk of our favorite girl)...

I recently replaced the rubber on the shift lever and since, it seems to be easier to hit 2nd with less effort.. Maybe its just me, but for $2.95 it seems like  a no brainer..

My bike has about 80K on it and the rubber was so worn out, it would not only spin, but allowed the metal end to rub a hole in my favorite boots on a 1800 mile trip last year......

Not trying to sell em, just helping some brothers out....

So far I have found my fat lady to be one of the best shifting bikes I've owned yet, of course it only has just under 9K on it too "no I'm not the original owner"......and there will be miles put on her now.  cooldude

I never have an issue shifting, with my kickshifters.  (other than the occasional trouble finding neutral at a stop) (after cars are lined up behind me stopped, I don't need to hold the clutch for another 3-5 minutes.)

But I do need one of those rubbers.  One of mine is way beyond repair (and duct tape is out).

Those who don't know of this already - you'll find it shifts a lot better if you do the shifter anchor mod. Especially if you have a lot of miles.  I've done it to my 2 daily riders and they both shift actually better than new.

Mine have the fwd controls mod as well, so it's more complex.  Here's the above mod as applied to Jade, which also has a tweak I added (heim joints on intermediate linkage):

Pretty awesome engineering work Mark.  I've always appreciated the functionality of your mods, and how many of them turn out being ingenious and Steampunk cool looking!  Carry on.
