2000 interstate that quits running intermittenly after a Goldwing fuel filter was installed to avoid trash in carbs.i suspect a vapor lock  as the tubing has a j curve {installed by a great Honda mechanic that works out of his on shop  but works on goldwings mainly. tank vent hose is open as is the carb vent hose. does the tank have a vent in the cap that could be the problem or has anyone had this issue.carbs were cleaned after I did not ride if for an extended period and gummed up the carbs as I have 2 interstates and was tryng and still I have not found the reason the audiovox cruise stopped working as I bought another and installed it and it doesnot work either .I guess the better question is has anyone ever added a fuel filter successfully and what filter  did they use and how. a friend thinks a smaller fuel filter like used on a lawn mower might work and not require a looping of the tubing due to lack of space available. it quits running as if running out of fuel which it is not literally but is technically if I am right in assuming a vapor lock. rode it 20 miles 2 days ago and it happened but 2 weeks ago it did not happen until heading home from 600 mile trip.any thouhts on cruise issue would be greatly appreciated also as the audiovox worked great for several years until a hit a broken block in the road(not sure this was the instant it stopped working as it was the first ride after sitting all winter)and the first time tried for several months.

Goldwings have fuel pumps. Valkyrie carbs gravity. You my not have sufficient flow, or a blocked vet line under the tank, or not enough room for the fuel filter and have caused air in the line and or restrictions. Putting a filter in the line is possible but very tricky as to what will work and still flow properly.

First, keep in mind the fuel delivery must flow downhill from the petcock to the tee. If you have a low spot in that line or some sort of fancy shaped hose in the mix, you're in trouble from the start. I've had an external filter and an electric shut off solenoid installed on my ride for over ten years with nary a problem. I use a manual Pingel petcock with the pickup tube extended to match the OEM petcock, thereby affording me comparable reserve. The key is it all must run downhill as stated, anything else such as a "j" curve will most likely inhibit flow. It might work for the first half of a full tank, but eventually the weight of the fuel when it gets low won't be enough to force it past any low spot created.

Why do you think you need another fuel filter?  Put it back to stock.
