I can tell you .. Hubcap took the time to go through the song and dance to post a ride report with pictures he got 18 replys. Fat ass Roseanne Barr made a stupid comment on Tweeter and the count on this board is 80.. Why take the time y'all don't give a crap.

At one time hundreds of people posted on this board now the regular ones I could count on my fingers and toes. All this political BS y'all can't seem to live without is killing the VRCC I've heard it time and time again from folks that nolonger come here.

I read every ride report, I don't reply as a rule. I appreciate the ride reports, all of them, and use them as suggestions for myself when in the area. I also don't reply or even read many of the political posts as many turn into an elementary school yard brawl. I admit guilt for posting on the Roseanne post as Savageo asked what I felt was a question worth response.

Reading a thread and contributing to it are woefully different.   I had nothing to add of significance to either.  But did reply off handily in one.

I am one of those also, I once looked at the board 2 or three times a day. Now once a day is unusual. Sadly, age is another reason for the boards down turn. How many kids out there are interested in a 15 to 21 year old bike and the old technology (carbs, what are they?) that goes along with our chrome girls?

I too read ride reports but generally don’t post in them unless I was involved.

I have posted stuff that I thought would be of interest and got few replies and posted lesser posts that go multiple pages. I don’t feel any better about my post, myself, or my inclination to post in the future based on whether you or anyone makes a reply to my post or not.

I know Mike a little and I cant imagine he’s but hurt abut the post count on his ride report.

Joe, I can only speak for myself. But I think most here enjoy and live for the ride reports. In my opinion DDT's posts are without a doubt the best around. But not many respond to them. Not because they don't enjoy them, but because they have nothing to add. Anybody that doesn't enjoy Hubcaps, DDT's, yours and others probably shouldn't be on here. Quantity doesn't equal quality. My ride reports don't come close to your guys in quality. But I mostly do them for myself anyway. It is nice if somebody responds and expresses their enjoyment of them. But many just don't have anything to add. They read it, enjoy it, think about it and move on. Doesn't mean Roseanne or Trump or Obama is more important to them. (Well, maybe to some who only post about them it is)

Mikes report was pretty good as usual. I wish I could combine DDT's philosophical reporting, your historical reporting, and Mikes folksiness into something I could do. Instead I can only purge out little incoherent sentences with an occasional pic thrown in.  Undecided

I read all ride report posts and respond to  most...it's the first and sometimes only topic I search for when I come on here.  I think of them as a way to initiate conversations about what I joined this group in the first place for...my passion for riding  in general and specifically for riding my Valkyrie. 16+ years and I'm still not tired about discussing my old bike or the adventures it's taken me on. I also enjoy writing ride reports...both for myself and others who may be interested in seeing or  even learning a bit about my little part of the continent. I appreciate the feedback I get on my ride reports, although I would still post them even if no one responded.  I know I love the photos, history,  and stories others include in their ride posts, especially from places I've never been (yet), and I appreciate the effort they make to share.
Personally, I cannot understand some of the topics discussed on here ....why it's done on a motorcycle specific site. There's so many other avenues for that. I don't judge  anyone on here or object to those topics being discussed....if I feel inclined to engage the odd one I open up I  will, but mostly I just ignore them. To each their own.
I would however, love to  see more ride reports  posted, and more of this club's rarely heard from members contribute their experiences, etc. Again...just my personal opinion.

I really enjoy the ride reports, especially since I don’t have the time to ride as much as many of you guys do. I really enjoy the scenery from other parts of the country, great scenery which we really don’t have around here. We’ve been over populated and over built.

Maybe I should reply to them but to be honest it’s a bit embarrassing to always be a bit envious of other people’s adventures, but I do see your point where an acknowledgement and a “thanks for posting” goes a long way.

So do you really think that if all the political posts stopped that the board would suddenly fill up with ride reports?  Roll Eyes I think you need to see the 1800 board.

Since the 1500 Valk has not been made in 15 years, was not really mass produced and there are less and less doing rides on any bike since times have changed may make a small dent in the numbers. I have never seen riding posts crowed out by political posts since they all take their turn. There has never been a happening like the hot rod 1500 Valk in a time of Harley's either, it broke the mold.

I would be careful about criticizing the political posts also since everyone likes to express themselves and join in. If there are only ride reports and people dont ride enough to make reports maybe they wouldn't be part of the board or tune in less frequently.

I hate to say it but Meats post was right on and I agree with it also. Most of the time my riding consists of my usual routes and its not cross country. It is also not something that could be posted again and again and I ride everyday. So this weekend I maybe could have posted a couple of pics but otherwise it was mostly the same routes I usually take, just like you Joe.

I owned my 1500 for 14 years and now I own my 1800 for about 1 to 2 years and have 30k miles on it and have only posted a few ride reports. I have not taken either across country and love riding. I see people like DDT and a few others and it inspires me to make the journey someday but that day is not today. I also think that the days of the Cajun, Ratdog, and so many others are not the same. They were prolific posters and riders and always had some ride or event that was going on that I dont see anymore. We had Bs Nicely doing the music reports and more and I have seen so many here die off also a generation of adventurers that I dont see to much lately. Times change, people change and even board owners change fearing the demise of the Valkyrie will bring about a decline in posts.

I ride in the stomping grounds a lot, it' s Western Colorado why the heck not?  It's better than good to ride some in some of the most beautiful country in the nation and be back home sleeping in your own bed that night.  If I get to Glacier like I'm hoping to this summer I'll sure post it up!

I’m still in love with my 1500s and I turn back and look at them all the time and ride as much as my crappy work schedule allows but I have a 92,000sf building that eats me alive. I love the ride reports and y’all have such nice roads. Trust me I love these posts and I did respond on this one but I do not respond on everyone but I am here. The 1500 is still Paramount to me and this is what this about, and VRCC.  I understand it is difficult to break out another board being Valk Only threads but it would be nice. We’re  still here Joe.  cooldude Mike your ride reports are how we live through the work week as was the case this time.  Please keep on.

Joe, folks are divided on political issues and will say their piece on them.

A good ride report is like food for the soul, our collective soul, and is something we can all agree that we wish were there for.

I really can’t explain why I check this site multiple times a day every day or post a thread about Roseanne. Some of it is habit, some of it may be because I think I like a lot of you guys and enjoy the interaction even though I have only met a handful of you. I am also interested in the human condition and how much different we are and how much we are the same no matter where we call home. As now, I read a thread and I post if I have something to add and if not I move on.

I hope ride report posters understand how fortunate they are to be in a position to do the rides and make the reports for everyone to enjoy. I’m sure most do.

This site, for as long as I've been a member, (since the old board) has always had general posts on the general board.  I love to read the ride reports, but don't always comment.  I miss some of the non motorcycle posts, like BS Nicely's Music posts, remember those?  There were also some joke posts that were entertaining.  If I posted a ride report about my HHR ride it would consist of slabbing 600 miles to TN, my ass hurting, I could include Pics of my evening spent at the Binkmore Estate in Vonore, which most would find interesting, The event which will never again be mentioned, and the fun I had riding and hanging out with some of the characters that make this club great.  Then slabbing home and my ass hurting again.  The ride across Ohio and MI is pretty uneventful, and no where near as scenic as Mike's routes, therefore I post reports when I have a ride I think would be of interest to the Group.

I do read and sometimes comment on the political posts, as I find some of the comments just need to be rebutted.  I don't know why the non-MC posts cause people to stay away, but I know it does.  I can only suggest selectively skimming and opening only the posts of interest to each member, just because a post was made, doesn't mean it has to be read.  I find using the "Unread/Replies" links above your profile pic help with this.

BTW, I hope no one ever gives up on the ride reports, They are entirely worth the effort.  I look forward to The Inzane reports and seeing everyone there.

It lets the world know you read a post and enjoyed it so if you have really nothing to add to the post all is well and good and the OP knows his (or her) post was read and enjoyed

Could we do that here?  Maybe put the button next to reply?

I am one of those who wishes he could get out more and post reports but sadly most of my riding is commuting in NYC and attempting to arrive safely home at the end of the day.

I do not let things like political posts bother me. I got thicker skin than that. Joe you have even contributed to some political posts in the past, especially if it concerns removing monuments. We all have our weaknesses and our hot buttons. It's what makes the world go around. I enjoy it all. And I enjoy FB as well. I come here several times a day. Peace out dudes. Life is short.

In the 10 years I have been around Valk's,, many changes,, including lots of old timers gone. I do not know if they do not come here anymore because of posts but I suspect a lot of it is they have moved on, passed away, ect. Our bikes are getting old. So are we and some are getting more cranky. I still enjoy this place.

Joe, you and I have spoken about this exact thing many a time during our get together's and I have even posted your exact sentiments on the board, going as far as suggesting giving the "actual" rider a page that stays linked to the front General Board such as "Posting Pictures from photostash" call it Readers Ride, or Ride Reports or whatever, that way all the political BS can stay on the General Board and those who want to read ride reports and actual Valkyrie related ride information, such as get together's can find the information easily, without having to go to page 2,3,4 etc.
When I suggested such it was actually received well by most but seem to have fallen on deaf ears otherwise.
I agree that the VRCC is dying a slow and painful death when it comes to actual riders and ones who want to share their ride experiences, all because they are buried within a few hours by political and non related motorcycle topics.
Ride on my Brother, and we hope to catch you in the western winds one day.  cooldude

Why can't yous guys just pretend you're at a party.

Over in the corner next to the jukebox are some guys talking politics.  The jukebox is loud so they don't hear each other anyway.  In the other corner is a guy telling a story about a ride he just took.  In the kitchen are a bunch of guys chewing and talking with their mouths open and full of food debating where the best BBQ is.

Pick a group and enjoy.  Not interested in the other two, don't go over there.  Interested in one of the other conversations, saunter between the two.

Why does it have to be an ALL or NOTHING thing?  Turn the channel.  Turn the page.  Move to the next conversation.

Could have been the same 100 that went back 9 times.  Usually no reason to go back to a ride report very often.

This. Whatever keeps the conversation lively will contribute to keeping the discussion alive here. I love the ride reports, but since they don't generally generate as much back and forth discussion, they don't generate as many replies or as many views (Since every time someone goes back into a thread to reply or see what was said, it ticks another view to the counter.) but that shouldn't detract from how much those types of threads are appreciated and enjoyed.

I also enjoy the ride reports and would hate to see them end.  Unfortunately have not met many on tbe board. On my second Valkyrie, bought my first in 98. I would hate to see this go away, FB would be a poor substitute for this website.
This has been brought up before but I would like to see a separate section for political posts.

Facebook has a like button

It lets the world know you read a post and enjoyed it so if you have really nothing to add to the post all is well and good and the OP knows his (or her) post was read and enjoyed

Could we do that here?  Maybe put the button next to reply?

I am one of those who wishes he could get out more and post reports but sadly most of my riding is commuting in NYC and attempting to arrive safely home at the end of the day.

Heck, there's a read count on each post... I'm tickled pink that 300 people looked at
my Hillbilly report  Smiley ...

-Mike "of course, 900 people looked at the roseanne post..."
That's mostly because we were tricked into it. I thought "Rosanne" was going to be some hot supermodel or something.
Naa, your synapses got crossed into that song from Toto..."Rosanna" and you harkened back to your boyhood and visions of: the young Rosanna Arquette

Not a great band, not a bad band for the 80's.
