I am looking for advice on what kind and where to buy the most motorcycle like car tire. I have been riding with a Goodyear TT (205/60-16) since 08, and it still has good tread on it with >30k miles on it, but the slow handling characteristics of it, because of the square profile of the tire, are not good. I've seen posts where the taxi tire has gotten good reviews but the one site I have seen it for sale on said it was a 175. No height measurement was listed, and the price was $185, Is this the going price for them? I am open to other brands as long as they have a rounded profile / handle well. I would also like a narrower width, 200 - 195, and a taller aspect ratio 65 - 70 to lower rpm. Also the best place to buy them would be a great help since different tire brands are sold buy different companies with different sizes. Thanks in advance for the help. All opinions are appreciated.

The wider you go, the worse the handling. I wouldn't buy the ATT for a while in spite of the great reviews because I thought the look of it was boring. Thought the wide tire was the bomb. So I went through a bunch of wide tires (all 205's) but all of them had mediocre handling. (Incidently, my first darkside tire was the GYTT - horrible handling, I swore off the darkside and said so on my web site.) Well it turns out that not all darkside tires are equal and it very much matters which one you pick. Look for narrow width and round shoulders for best handling. If you want to benefit from great mileage at high speed, also go for a tall tire. That describes the Austone. Tried it out and I was impressed. To Hell with looking stylish! I'll take the great handling and great mileage at speed every day now! I just took off my first one with nearly 20k on it - it has at least 5k left on it but since I just had my wheels powder coated, might as well put on fresh rubber too. I have another Austone on hand to put on Deerslayer when I get back from Inzane. It replaces a Michelin Ice & Snow which replaced a Vredestein snow tire.
I read the aspect on the Austone is 80 though they don't stamp that on the tire. I haven't documented the height though others have. I know at 3500rpm you get 85mph indicated. At that rpm I still get 34mpg. The tire is H rated IIRC (100mph) but I don't care because we are under-loading it anyway on a bike and there's plenty of margin (though I don't know what it is) and I don't go triple digits sustained anyway. Someone said handling issues / wobble at 115 or so but I've never seen it. 90 is plenty in my book.
It's only available from one dealer online and they sometimes have free shipping. I think typically without a sale it's around $180 to your door. Well worth it to me. I don't buy tires for the price but for the handling / performance they provide.

+me on the ATT. Spendy, but worth it in confidence alone. I've never felt like the Austone was going to break away from me, and that is more than I can say for any m/c specific tire I've run.

I like the 195 tires. Almost all of them only go up to the 60 ratio. I came across a 195/65 that I recently put on. So far so good. If you find a 195/70 please post, I would be interested.

Thanks for the advice. I did go ahead and get the Austone Taxi Tire and so far I like it a LOT more than I did the GTT. Its a lot lighter in the handlebars now (counter steer) and sets up higher. My tire guy said that he thought it was an 80 on the aspect ratio also 175/80 R16. I do like the drop in RPMs and the extra tire height has not had any affect on normal riding as of yet. Riding double up with shocks set on 5. One question I did have was, What tire pressure are you guys running in the Taxi Tire? The side wall says "Max load of 1650lbs at 55psi" which I thought was way to high for the valk. I have it set at 42 right now but don't know of any ill affects this has had for other people.
Thanks, Paul

Glad you like it! 42 feels good in all conditions for me, solo and two-up. I did notice a slight shimmy at speeds that garner the negative attention of the law at 40psi once. I try to avoid those those speeds and and that pressure as much as possible now.

When I installed my ATT several thousand miles ago, I started at 42 PSi and it felt great! For S&G I decided to try it at other pressures for comparison. Went to 36 PSI and it also felt great. That's where it's been ever since. You'll get all sorts of opinions with most saying theirs's is the best/correct pressure. I say, try different pressures and see what you like and use it.

34 P S I on my I/S and the "stuff" in my saddle bags and trunk and the 2 O2 cylinders I carry now and the 210 220 lbs that are me. And B T W-I do NOT worry bout it when it rains/pours/becomes a cow floater. RIDE SAFE.

I went with the Austone as well, with a ME880 in stock size on the front.
Pressure suggestions are all over the place, which makes me think it's not terribly sensitive and you can get good results at a pretty wide range. Personally I found it a bit squirrely/bouncy during more aggressive cornering if I ran much less than about 40, since this tire does have much softer sidewalls than the MC bias ply it replaced it understandably needs a bit more pressure.
For S&G might try dropping it down to like 35 and doing a comparison of the two extremes back to back.
The Austone did result in a mild "gearing up" effect, maybe dropped RPM 200 or so at highway speed.
