Horn Mount

I have a '01 Valkyrie Std. The horn sounds like crap so I bought a new aftermarket horn. When I mount it up it too sounds like crap. If I hold either horn in my hand, by the long bracket they both sound great. The problem seems to be the bracket mounted to the frame. as soon as I tighten up the horn it stops operating correctly. I have tried to tighten the bracket to the frame but I don't feel like pulling the radiator at this point in time.
So i mounted it to the crash bars, down low and it works perfect.
Has any one else had this problem? If so were you able to fix it?????
