After going down on the left side last week (hard) ,this morning started it up and blue smoke was coming out left  side. left it running through two fan cycles and still lots of smoke .I noticed oil dripping out from somewhere out underneath left side ,as the bike was loaded on wrecker. should i worry and let the insurance have it or not? I have limited use of my hands right now (crash) thanks
Fred
the oil doe not leak anymore

May be entirely unrelated, but dump the drool tube.  Maybe that thing can get full with the bike on it's side.

When discussing smoke, it's always good to specify white or black.  (One's worse than the other)

White smoke is coolant and that's usually a bad head gasket or cracked block (rare in these bikes)
Grey/Black smoke is fuel is evidence of it running rich. Maybe a stuck float or bad float valve needle.
Blue smoke is oil. Usually bad rings or valve seals (pretty rare too). Or a result of layin on it's side like yours did.

Having your bike lay on it's side for a while can allow oil from the crankcase to flow past the pistons into the cylinder or even into the intake through open valves. If that is the reason it will burn off when you restart it with no harm. Recheck your oil level and refill as necessary. You can't lose/burn oil and then not need oil.

If the bike is running good now and not smoking you are probably in good shape.

Keep us posted.

Is it possible that the valve cover chamber got extra? I know it should go back into crankcase when up righted. Is it driveable? Run it up to temp with load and rpms?

Well it is rideable     lol   xept the riders raw hands won t allow it   Grin
the valk was on its side for a good two hours wile talking to different Louisiana PO and medics.
Lots of well meaning samaritans afterwards. One PO said- I should write you a ticket, but I ll give you a break-  LOL police.
Oil changed a few days prior but always guilty of tipping the 5 quarts jug a little over the 3.9 quarts, maybe 4.1 . Could not get clutch action afterwards and reason why it was not started for a few days. have not ridden it since but it now starts right up and sounds great without grey smoke. I ve decided to keep her and recondition it. cooldude

Probably will be fine. Knew of one that had a tire go down and tip over in a garage, it lay on it's side for 2-3 days until the guys came home from some trip. I helped him pick it up and we mopped up the gas on the floor from a leaking gas cap, and pulled the plugs on the low side to give it a quick spin to check for hydrolock (none found) then replaced plugs and fired it up. Started easily with a little roughness, oil smoke POURED out of the low side exhaust but we decided to take it for a ride with me following to observe. He figured he might as well know if he had worse than a dented tank and bent bars i.e. "should he call the insurance co?". Blue/black smoke stopped within maybe a half mile, but there was plenty of oil in the end of the pipe (truck stacks). Bike ran just fine for at least 3 years afterwards.
