Stopped in the local dealer just before heading out for Inzane. Crazily considering paying dealer $ for a set of hi-way pegs.  uglystupid2 Soon got over that! Come to find out, wasn't enough straight roads to utilize a set of 'em anyway.
Anywho, all I did was stop and gander at new Wing and salesman was all over me like a cheap suit.  He quickly offered a test ride and strongly suggested the automatic. Told me that I would always be in the right gear. Dealer is very close to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Some great roads to traverse on a cycle. One of my favorite go to, evening quick rides. Passed on the offer but, plan on stopping back and trying it out. Sat on it though, still not as comfy as my F6C. Ridiculous money!
Just like cars, trying to phase out manual shifting, at least in that segment?

Honda was doing automatics back in the 70's. They were pretty crappy in my opinion. These new autos are the bomb.  Smiley

I was at the local dealer the other day ordering some parts.

They are really pushing the DCT tranny.

I told the guy NO THANKS that I enjoy shifting gears.

Sadly it's the way of things. Finding a decent car with a manual transmission was a challenge the last time I bought one a decade ago, but I love my "Millenial Ant-Theft Device".

Give it another decade and it'll start being difficult to find a bike with a manual. But I'll continue to go out of my way to find one regardless.

The technology has advanced to the point where the computer and machine can out shift just about any human in just about any circumstance, but it's still missing the symphony of man and machine working the clutch, shifter, throttle together in a beautiful harmony. Just can't replace that with shifter paddles.

I test rode a manual '18 just before we left for Inzane. I REALLY liked it, but the price tag and the reliance on dealership maintenance killed the dream for me.....

Was amazed at the quiet difference just by raising the W/S. Course tween his V-twinky and the G/W I M H O no comparison. Course those of us already on F-6s already know some of this!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

Almost forgot the Why of Dad's Insisting I learn to drive a manual. His take and I agree-Anyone can drive an auto. When I started out driving 18 wheeler the very First transmission I learned on was a straight 10 speed. Balancing the R P Ms and road speed and road conditions was/is a skill I perfected over the years. I Still enjoy stirring the gear box with my toe!  cooldude My cage on the udder hand be a slush box. When you Know How to shift a 4 X 4 air slide or a 5 and a 4 or a 13 double over and other transmissions 5 gears on a M/C ain't That difficult!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

agree, been looking at the honda CTX700 and most are autos but some on the cheaper side are still foot shifters which I would prefer in a cycle.  I do not mind my 250cc scooter being automatic, but jumping on one to the other is hard to do keep wanting to shift gears on the scooter and that is 1 of the 2 brake levers.

I do too - my first bike was a 1978 CB400A. Looking back - I should have gotten the manual - but I did ride that bike ALOT.
