So after gallivanting around the East Coast with my elder spawn, I decided to take one of the triplets (The one who LOVES motorcycles) out for a bit today.

I took Brian Jr. (AKA Doodle) out, first we went to an adult beverage store so I could stock up on my post-Inzane depleted Bourbon and Scotch supply.

Coming out of the store carrying a full bag of our purchases he asked how I was gonna get that big bag on the bike.
I quipped that I don't know, I guess you'll have to carry the bag.
Just then a random guy walking by chuckles, and said "Yeah, you tell him Grandpa!"

I always swore I would never color my hair, but maybe, just maybe..

*Sigh*

Oh well... From there went to the local Honda dealership just for S&G... Walked around, nothing of interest. Automatics, automatics everywhere... *Yawn* When at the very back of the showroom what did mine eyes behold? A beautiful blue 2014 Valkyrie.

As I posted elsewhere, as I was looking, the salesman wandered by and whispered "$8999" to me...

I was so very close. So VERY close to pulling the trigger...

But then I thought $8999 + a windshield, + saddlebags + cell phone mount + cell phone wiring + new seat + sissy bar + 1000 other things I hadn't even thought of....

And suddenly my 20 year old PAID FOR and customized to the hilt Valkyrie looked so much better again.

(That, and the spousal unit flat out veto'ing the very thought of me even thinking about considering a 3rd bike right now anyway...)

So we rode to a Mexican restaurant, had a lovely lunch, then I brought him home.

Wasn't a long ride, wasn't terribly exciting, but had some chuckles, some insight, and I always love spending time with my kiddos, especially when we're enjoying one of my life interests together.

Two Valks, setup exactly how I want 'em and running strong.  Ruby for the tour, the Bullet for eating pork.  That paid for thing is huge, but so is riding an old school Valkyrie - - rolling chrome muscle.  Jaw dropping beauty.  Smooth, quiet beasts that can scream like a banshee on demand.  I see the other bikes and I just grin.  Wink

Probably did the right thing, considering the spousal unit's attitude. Smiley

She sure is a pretty blue though.

After seeing Mike's "14" it's perked my attention up some on them. Undecided

Nice report and I agree to what you said.

All my bikes I paid full and in cash, not a fan of keep paying fees and interest to bankers.

I considered buying a F6B (I like the style and it comes with the panniers), but decided to get a ST1300 instead (that V4 engine is amazing).

An ST1300 is parked to my Valk rignt now, and would have to be disposed of it I were to acquire a new bike... Whenever my Valk just isn't fast enough for me I'll hop on the ST, sadly, that happens less and less frequently now, and it mostly just sits.

Too small for me for trips, and I haven't farkled it to my liking either, so..... it just sits...

The gargantuan panniers (i.e. you can fit a full face helmet in them) plus a full size after-market givi trunk in my ST1300 made me realize that it actually has more cargo area than mine I/S.

That combined with the 7.7 gallons gas tank (which yields over 300 miles fuel autonomy) made me choose the ST over the I/S for long trips. I was twisting the tail of it in my road trip and still getting consistent 40 to 42 mpg!

I guess adding the missing farkles would make your ST better suited for long trips?

That being said, nothing beats the cheer amount of satisfaction that the valkyrie gives to its rider when you roll the throttle...

Savago,

On paper the ST1300 is a GREAT touring bike...

The catch is that I'm 6'7" tall... I can ride the ST for a while, but not all day, I just get too cramped on it...

Thats how I am with the bmw, which is a one seat bike, so I relieved Stan of the burden of his excess Valkyrie  Could not believe Bonnie likes the Ultimate rear seat

Woohoo

STILL have not been able to take time off work to register it but did start it today. (yes Stan I remembered to turn off the pingel)

It is better to ask forgiveness than permission, next time get the doggone bike

then sell the ST  you can them be comfortable on 2 bikes and all it means is digging up a few of those mason jars filled with money you have at the bug out place

Ifn I didn't know better, I would think you're trying to drum up some business for your divorce lawyer friends here in The Republic of Texas...  Grin

I'd sell the ST at this point to be honest, but the value on 'em has dropped almost as far as the Valk's value, and it'd need some work to make it saleable anyway...

I'm honestly kinda hoping I'll fall into a deal with someone having a decent shape classic Valk wanting to do a straight trade for it, although I haven't been ACTIVELY looking for that deal...

Heh, yeah... That's part of the reason I'd like to see that bike go away... The last thing a 16 year old brand new rider that has the "Go Fast" gene from both parents needs is an ST1300 sitting around...

I've got a 99 Interstate that I'm looking to sell.

I could possibly be talked into riding it to Texas and Riding an ST1300 back to VA.

The wife said that i had to sell it before I could buy another bike.

She didn't say that I couldn't trade it for another bike.  Wink
