she is another lying UN marxist democrat trained by bernie sanders and ted kennedy.   she was never poor.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandria_Ocasio-Cortez

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-06-29/girl-bronx-ocasio-cortez-called-out-fact-check-actually-grew-wealthy-enclave

Except Ocasio-Cortez isn't quite the blue-collar champion she's branding herself as. Breitbart's Josh Caplan is out with a "fact check" on the Democratic Socialist's background - only to find she grew up in one of the richest counties in the United States.

Around the age of five, Alexandria’s architect father Sergio Ocasio moved the family from the “planned community” of Parkchester in the Bronx to a home in Yorktown Heights, a wealthy suburb in Westchester County. The New York Times describes her childhood home as “a modest two-bedroom house on a quiet street.” In a 1999 profile of the area, when Ocasio-Cortez would have been ten years old, the Times lauded Yorktown Heights’ “diversity of housing in a scenic setting” – complete with two golf courses.

The paper quoted Linda Cooper, the town supervisor, describing Yorktown as ”a folksy area where people can come, kick off their shoes, wander around, sit in a cafe, listen to a concert in the park, or go to the theater.”

    ...

Westchester County – which the Washington Post, in a glowing profile on Ocasio-Cortez, describes as only “middle class” – ranks #8 in the nation for the counties with the “highest average incomes among the wealthiest one percent of residents.” According to the Economic Policy Institute, the county’s average annual income of the top one percent is a staggering $4,326,049.

Yorktown Heights, specifically, offers a sharp contrast from Bronx living. According to USA.com, the town’s population is 81 percent white, and median household income is $96,413 – nearly double the average for both New York state and the nation, according to data from 2010-2014.

Perception. She and her family may have been the poorest millionaires in the neighborhood. She may be the perfect candidate for what could become her constituents. There is a huge disconnect between Hilliaries and Bernie’s supporters and the majority of people I know.

I guess that is the beauty of communism, except for high ranking officials, everyone is eaqually poor!

Yorktown Heights is no way no how the wealthy neighborhood the OP suggests

At the time of 1980 a 4 br house was probably around 80-100k
not millions

But indeed living in Westchester is not like the Bronx where I grew up

We had heroin wars, stabbing shootings daily  robberies you name it so I get why dad moved and put up with 2 hours a day in the car .  My own parents moved when I was going into HS as I was skipping school to ride the subways rather than get robbed every day.

She is no poor kid she is a socialist pure and simple, one more reason why the party of the donkey is in the toilet

I sure wish people would read the links. she was born in '89 and moved when she was 5. so what does 1980 housing prices 14 yrs earlier than when she was 5 have anything to do with anything?

see large increase in housing prices from 1980 http://furmancenter.org/files/Trends_in_NYC_Housing_Price_Appreciation.pdf

and I am not the OP of the web links.

Since it is just a few miles up the road let's call.1990 price 130k
I represented a nice family paid 250 k. A.few years ago

Same price as the Bronx neighborhood  Parkchester is central Bronx, just north of Cross Bronx Expressway  Lots of condos, 1-3 family dwellings

I have represented people.for 35 yrs in both places
It's what I do for a living until I retire....someday

Yorktown Heights ain't Scarsdale or Chappaqua where Clinton lives

But it is free.from fear of shootings and Dems #s about the same as Repub there, unlike nyc

2 people working white collar or blue collar should be pulling in 120K+ which is enough to handle mtg and taxes  Lots of nyc cops and firemen in town and there is your median income figure right there.  Many also own 2-3 family houses in the Bronx and I handle their evictions. The income from the rental properties is supposed to cover those mtg and expenses and be a pension for the owners.  Worked until Bloomberg and then DiBlasio messed it up by putting in judges who wont evict.  I have a trial scheduled tomorrow, for sure it wont go out as no judge will be working this week.  Thanks DeBlasio. uglystupid2

edit  Trial did NOT go out, no judges, big surprise there

I once lived in Westchester County, around 1958 to maybe 1964 or '65. I lived in Port Chester, right on the NY/CT line and LI Sound. Not wealthy at all, though I could see the giant Christmas trees at the Westchester Country Club when they were lit up, and there was the smell of money on any drive more than 5 minutes.

I could care less about this girl, but it amazes me how much it bothers you guys with her stretching the truth, but it does not bother you at all that our president lies every day about everything that really matters. She may be a socialist, but he is a dictator want to be. He kisses all the dictators asses all the time. He can't say one bad thing about Putin, but he is quick to through our allies under the buss every chance he gets. He loves the leaders of Turkey, North Korea, Philippines and praises them as strong leaders, WTF. Putin is going to have the cleanest buttocks in Russia after Trump leaves. One more thing, Trump calls this investigation a witch hunt, but it has produced many indictments, guilty plea's , and jail time for some already, and in less than a year and half. On the other hand Trey Gowdy spent two and a half years on Clinton with zero results. This all seems a little lop sided to me. OK, now you can all have a field day bashing me.

I think is fascinating the need to attack the person instead of his/her ideas.

This is a logical fallacy know as 'ad-hominen' attack. To learn more: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ad-hominem

From her official website (https://ocasio2018.com/about):
"
From an early age, Alexandria grew up with a deep understanding of income inequality. The state of Bronx public schools in the late 80s and early 90s sent her parents on a search for a solution. She ended up attending public school 40 minutes north in Yorktown, and much of her life was defined by the 40 minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx. It was clear to her, even then, that the zip code a child was born in determined much of their destiny. The 40 minute drive represented a vastly different quality of available schooling, economic opportunity, and health outcomes.
"

And: "After studying, Ocasio-Cortez returned to the Bronx and began to pursue work in the areas that had impacted her own family growing up: education and community organizing. ".

She was born on Bronx, did middle/high school in a nicer neighborhood (which implied a 40 minutes drive) and then after University decided to return to Bronx.

She never claimed to never have left Bronx in her entire life and Oss who is a local explained that you don't need to be a millionaire to afford a home in the 'nicer neighborhood' in the late 80's early 90's.

I personally don't like socialists and can't tolerate commies, but is shameful to misrepresent her origin or somehow claim that she comes from privilege. It is a poor attempt to steal or deny her merits and effort.

She was born and lived in the Bronx till 5. Her Dad bought a house in Yorktown for $150,000. She, her Mom and brother moved into it. Her Dad and rest of her extended family stayed in the Bronx.

Perhaps better that she think about merit and not zip code alone

When I was 13to18 they had regents scholarship exams in NYS
In NYC you could get scholarship to state college with a 183
At Tappan Zee HS in Orangeburg you needed a 224 and you had to pass all of your regents courses and exams to take it.

I had like a 240 or so and got it anyway, worth 250 a semester against tuition of 400 a semester  NYS did away with it my 2nd year of college, Cant tell you how many kids from the hood flunked out after a year at SUNY Buffalo of hard partying and dealing. It was a lot.  I partied pretty good but also put hours in the library every day before joining the fun. And being from the Bronx myself I got along with both the ghetto crowd and the upstate and commuter kids.  I loved college.

The problem isnt zip code, it is that so many parents, who are freaking imbeciles themselves do not make the kids do homework and don't encourage education.  And don't tell me I am racist because I have heard over and over again black kids say learning is fools stuff when you can get for free.  They say niga this and that all day everywhere and complain when a white person (not me) repeats their own words. Double standard indeed. It is cool to beat on smart kids so until that changes nothing good will come.  How will she solve that problem without stealing from those who worked for it?

So if she can work on that I dont really care if she worships Bernie Sanders or Beyonce, the #1 problem in NYC is the kids dont Want to learn, the parents dont care and the teachers are demoralized by a system that grinds them up and spits them out  That and a press that is solidly up Clintons ass so far it isnt funny

maybe she deserves a chance.  I would not vote for her however, no way

I think this video shows that the US is NOT as divided as we think. When Trump was a candidate and all the bad press saying Hillary would win was out there, I asked people who are you voting for and by my own poll the majority were voting for Trump.

While we have diverse opinions I believe that the news is for the most part like the tail that is wagging the dog. Antifa was upset that the Democratic socialists left them standing when the police came in.

'

Yup they all lie.  She specifically says her 40 minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx.  So which is it?  Did they move or not?  If she was commuting, she was probably using a fake address, maybe a friend's or a relative's, to get into the school system for free.  Lots of NYC people do this.  NYC democrats are the biggest scammers out there.  Where ever they can get over, they will or die trying and then make every one else foot the bill.
