Hello all! A group of us from Idaho are going to be riding to Joseph, OR arriving the evening of September 20th (a Thursday) and returning home the 23rd (Sunday morning). We’ll be riding the roads in the area, including the “rattlesnake highway” on Friday and Saturday, maybe having lunch at Effies in Lewiston....plans are pretty open. Would love to meet and ride with any and all who can make it. You would need to make your own reservations for lodging. We booked a place through Wallowa lake vacation rentals and have on many occasions. Just a suggestion.
Hope to see you there!  cooldude

I'm in Vegas that weekend, can't go, but how are your plans coming?

Is there accommodations, and what kind, in Joseph?

It would be a nice 9 hr drive for me, down the Interstates thou.

Glad to hear Redline and others will be able to attend. Sounds like our accomodations will be fairly close to one another. We currently have 5 in our group with a possible 6th showing up Friday evening. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Accomodations can be found at http://www.wallowalakevacationrentals.com/
We’ve had great luck each time we’ve used them.
Other things we can consider if there is interest. There is a pedal ride affair on the old rail line from Joseph to Enterprise and back. Website is www.jbrailriders.com
There is also a Tram to the top of the mountain overlooking the area. http://wallowalaketramway.com/information/operating-calendar/
Of course, Rattlesnake highway is a must. Need to have a shake at Boggins Oasis and save room for a burger at Effie’s in Lewiston!

We are all very much looking forward to it. Weather that time of year can be a little sketchy with rain sometimes. So far (fingers crossed) we’ve always been blessed with beautiful sunny weather with the exception of one time when we got drizzled on the evening of our arrival and the morning of our departure, so have been very fortunate. Will still be brining my frogg toggs.

Sounds like it is going to be a great time had by all.

I've heard of those rail rider bikes, I believe they had them on the old Kettle Railroad lines in BC. Also die-hards who ride the active rail lines. They find out the schedule and then pull their bikes off the rails before the trains come.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone as well  cooldude Pretty hard to imagine rain at all anyore considering the long spells of dry weather we've had this Summer, but if it does that week I don't mind a bit of the wet stuff....except of course if that long gravel driveway/road Redline has us riding on to and from our cabin turns to muck. Good thing he's promised to help clean my bike...right Cal?? Wink

Help... well... I did promise you can use the two car garage to polish your bike before riding the mile of muck back out to the pavement!

Dam, am I getting jealous, will be missing this, and I'm sure it would have been my last big ride of the year, not that I've even had the time for a short day ride either.

This annual ride usually marks the end of our riding season. Not that we don’t get together and ride after this, but no more long distance stuff. We always have a very pleasant time.

It’s killin me not to be joining you guys, but after my long rides in June and July, I’ve only got a week of vacation left...and my freezer needs a moose in it.  Why do my (only) riding buddies have to be 15 hours away?! Grin

You guys have a good time and ride safe.  cooldude

Not sure how Mike is gonna keep his bike on the road...he’ll be twitching so much knowing that it’s dirty.

Update, we are now ten. Our cabin is full, anyone else wanting to join in on the fun will need to find their own lodging. Should be interesting... ten in a four bedroom, three bath cabin. Bring ear plugs, and hope you get to sleep first.

Are we needing sleeping bags for this adventure!

Some will, you do not. There are four bedrooms, two have queen beds, one has a double size bed and the fourth is two twin size beds, the beds will be made and ready upon our arrival.

Linda and I will probably be in the upstairs queen bedroom, you and Myla will be in the other queen bedroom. That leaves six “bachelors” with two bedrooms and a hide-a-bed. They’re on their own to sort that out... I don’t want to know! What happens in Joseph stays in Joseph! Anyone not sleeping in one of the beds will need to bring their own bedding.

I am looking forward to this ride. What a great last big ride for the year.

Thanks for letting me crash the ride.

I'll bring my own air mattress and sleeping bag.  I don't want to do anything in Joseph that has to stay in Joseph.  Shocked

Should be a great gathering...I'm really looking forward to this as well. Currently the weather forecasts look pretty good for our ride down, and decent enough throughout the weekend in Joseph (I only check with AccuWeather...they seem to be the most optimistic all the time  Cool )  Yup...it's gonna be great!!

No it won't... and I just took my bike apart... just the front wheel. I decided to go ahead and replace the tire even though the old one was probably good for one more trip. Don't want to worry about tires when trying to keep up with you guys!
