If ya ran... ran...ran... away, could you run,,,run,,,run back or did you need to crawl? Either way I hope you enjoyed the time away.
P.S. 4 of us should be rolling thru your area Sunday August 12th. I'll tell the Harley guys to keep it quiet in case your napping. Probably grab a room near Bar Harbor on our way to Nova Scotia. I was thinking I95 to Augusta and RT3 to Rt1 to cross the border.

Where will you be crossing the border from Maine into Canada Dan ?? Maybe crossing the border in Calais ?? Remember, there is no longer a passenger ferry from Bar Harbor to Nova Scotia. I would not recommend visiting Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park, as it is filled with too many damn tourists that are always in the way and have a damn rotten attitude !!!! If you are crossing the border in Calais, I would recommend either Rt1 north from Ellsworth to Calais or Rt 9 east from Brewer to Calais.....both rides are unique in their own different way. On your way here, I 95 north will deliver you to the Bangor area. Pay attention to signs and look for I 395 towards Acadia National Park....this will bring you to Rt 1A and send you into Ellsworth where you will join Rt3 east to Bar Harbor (if you so desire). Just re-read your post....yep, Rt 3 out of Augusta will deliver you to Ellsworth / Bar Harbor area....

make your reservations early. We were down that way a couple weeks ago and thought it might be nice to spend the night. Calais to Bucksport were all worn, tired and dated two star reviews and huge prices. One place was state of the art during the Johnson administration - the first one. Best deal was a tent site w/o power for $120. No kidding. Needless to say I just drove home.
PEI, NS, NB are nice and scenic but not that much different than coastal Maine except the size of the Fundy tides. A lot less tourists than Bar Harbor except at Hopewell Rocks and Peggy's Cove. Over advertised and too many people IMHO. Roads were mostly good but there were a few that were sad so keep an eye out. Traffic was light and polite.
Have a good trip!!

Thanks for the tip, Bar Harbor is just a destination name, were just planning to stop in that general area for the first night. Wasn't sure how readily available rooms would be between Ellsworth and Calais. Besides I heard there is a Dunkin Donuts in Ellsworth with a Hotel right next door. That caught my attention !!!! Most guys look for a Brewery,,, for me it's DD RT 1 or RT9 was a topic of conversation and hasn't been decided yet, and may not be until we get there and have make a choice. I hope to get into Nova Scotia for the second night as this trip is just about riding the Cabot Trail. It's a 2,000 mi trip to ride a 200 mile loop.

Nothing really close to a DD, unless you stay the night in the WalMart parking lot. (DD inside)
