Guys / Gals, I did something that I've wanted to do for a long long time. Take my Valk to the drag strip an see how fast my 2000 IS would run in a 1/4 mile. On November 8th there was a fun run at MO-KAN Dragway, just norht of Joplin, MO.
I did 3 passes an my best was 98.75mph in 13.12 seconds. My reaction time needs a little help but it didn't effect my run. (.272sec) I did have the trunk removed, I'm running a 205/55/16 goodyear eagle, I have a K&N filter with a carb kit. Otherwise it's stock. My first pass I hit the rev limiter twice. The second time once and the third I hit all gears at about 6,500rpm. This was my first time running full out where I didn't worry about the blue flashing lights...it was great. I need to do a little reading to see where my max shift points are, maybe this will allow me to reach 100mph. I had to share, this was a great day. A need for speed!!!!  Blu

Another thing to help you.

I don't recommend it unless ya got a kick shifter.

Pop the clutch at the line, wind her out to 6,400, leave the throttle open, and do a power shift to the next gear.......

I was looking for my old time slip from the track in Ohio.  Can't find it on this computer.   Speed on it was like 108.00+ and 12.9+or-.

Now you’ve got me thinking, what can a professional racer do with a Valk?

RJ - I did rev to 3k an launched, the front wheel came up about 12 inches. Are you saying to rev to 6.5K at launch or run out to 6.5K then power shift into second without letting up? The Goodyear hooks up so well I'm afraid the front wheel would come up to high if I rev'd any higher off the line.
RJ - Alph I surfed the web an found a top speed (by the pro's) was 104mph in the high 12's. This is realy close to what you had RJ.
Also I did forget to add that I also have a 6 degree trigger wheel on the Valk.

Without canceling this post I can't go back to what I posted, BUT, I believe I said launch and then wrap/wind out to 6,400 and do a full throttle power shift.............  Take off at an RPM you are comfortable with.

Mine with he CT will lift the front wheel about 3 or 4" going into 2nd, and stretches the fork tubes out going into 3rd...................

I have a trigger wheel, a couple of other mods and Viking pipes now,
So, I'm guessing I could get it in the very low 12's, or maybe into the high 11's..................

" don't recommend it unless ya got a kick shifter"  Ditto on the powershift, I've never needed a kick shifter, but I can see that it would be more positive.  I like 2nd gear roll ons at 30mph!  Mucho fun!

I do I do! I didn't think there were any Valk riders on the MN side of WI... at least not towards the south!

Ran the stuff around Mondovi, Muscoda, Richland Center, etc a few times. Taz from Chicago headed up some good rides out of baraboo on our annual Baraboo fall run, been doing it out of Prairie du Chien last 4-5 years. Same weekend as the Indiana CBR and I did that instead this year.

Yeah, I missed the PdC run this year... I was up north... Duluth, Hayward, Copper Point. Great stuff up there!
