I know some of you folks have been on this road its a beautiful area and the road is awesome on a bike. Some of you will remember we went that way when we hooked up in Cleveland, Tennessee for the ride to DOTS ( Dragons Over The Smokys ). Click the link to watch the road get buried  Sad

Joe, asyou know my welding supply business is just west of that slide on US64. Business has been real slow the last 8 months, I'm afraid this might just shut our doors.  We get a lot of business out of Copperhill, Ducktown surroundy areas.  There is another supplier just to the east of those areas in Murphy NC. I may lose customers to them for good.  Cry tickedoff Cry tickedoff

Wow that sucks big time Terry maybe they'll bring in a couple D-9 dozer's and just push it in the river  Undecided

Saw on the news the other night same thing is happening on I-40 to the businesses the rockslide caused to get " cut-off " from interstate traffic one business owner claim he was down to near 95 % loss of dollars coming in and may lose it all when payment time came ....Best of luck Terry

Terry, that would really suck to lose business due to that slide.   Sad     Hoping for the best for your business's  bottom line.     cooldude

Dang it, I knew you had a business over there somewhere. When I was watching the video last nite I didn't think about it affecting you. I hope it doesn't shut you down Terry.
I do enjoy riding thru there.

Thanks guys, right now it's just too early to tell, so maybe it won't be blocked long.  There is a an old road....gravel,rocks & dirt that goes from reliance to Ducktown called Kimsey Hwy.  Smokin Joe probably knows that road. It's a good road to know when you live around here just for these times, but tough to travel...you can only go about 5-10mph at times.

Yes I know the road we used it when we did the powerline from the new Cleveland sub-station to Murphy , NC.

Hope everything works out for you we'll be coming through Ducktown tomorrow on our way to the north Georgia mountains. If you need a ride look us up  cooldude

Isn't that between Murphy and Copperhill/Ducktown? Along the Ocoee? Used to canoe the Ocoee, Nanny, and others. Was through there a lot back in the 80's. Seem to remember one curve headed west towards Murphy that if your passanger reached out the right side window they would lose an arm. Never really thought about a slide taking me out. Geez.

It's between Cleveland and Copperhill close to where the 1996 Olympic Whitewater competition took place.

Joe, I was a bleacher worker during the 96 Olympics for the Whitewater Venue. Stayed with a fellow worker we met that lives in Copperhill. Love that area up there. I think I recognize that spot but want next time, seems it underwent facial surgery. Must of been caused by global warming.
