Who is the eldest rider still regularly riding a two wheeled Valkyrie?
Solo1 is Nighthawking and I understand that R.J.'s weary old beast isn't getting much exercise these days, so that seems to leave the door open.
John, is it you?

Anybody above 70?

Anybody above 70?The Doc says my hip xrays show the bone structure of someone well into his 80's. I had to have the left one replaced even though my birth cert. shows 1960. Does that still count as old?

Poor maintenance - watch it. I prefer to blame it on inheritance. At least that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

I am sure there are some over 70. And, I have put 48k on my 2000 Interstate in 29 months.
But, until someone steps up, I turned 68 this past September 30.
I was born BEFORE WWII.

Yep, I no longer ride a Valk and never will again. However, I feel that now it's my personal accomplishment to even ride a motorcycle at all. BTW, when I was 75, I still felt fine on a Valk. I sure would like to see RJ ride MGM again tho. Hey Willow, does that mean that if I show up at Inzane riding the Nighthawk, even if I trailer, that I'm not in the running? How about a senior that rides a Valk on three wheels, does that count? How about a senior on a Gold Wing since it's much heavier to hold up than a Nighthawk but it does have reverse which saves the ole knees.? Inquiring minds want to know.

Wayne, those decisions aren't mine to make (although I do get to put in my two cents' worth).
My prejudices are along the lines that Valkyrie events should welcome non-Valkyrie riders, but not give awards to them. Are Valkyrie trikes Valkyries? Yes, indeed, they are and I have great respect for some riders I know who handle a trike very well. I do, though, clearly see a distinction between riding two wheels and riding three, four, or six.
Wayne, in any group of motorcyclists you'll always be respected for your many miles and longevity in the saddle, but if I drove my Dodge to a Jeep event, I wouldn't expect to be in the running for the best looking Jeep driver.

Doubt I'm the oldest, but coming up on 72 before long and still ride every chance I get.
I'm not blaming my sweetheart's health issues one bit, but the miles would be building more, especially during the summer, under normal circumstances. We're already working on a plan that will allow me to attend the next InZane in Michigan. She was really hurt that I couldn't attend the last one in Frisco, but I told her I'd already been there for the last one, didn't help but did soften it a bit. If I travel from here instead of her sister's place in Columbus, OH, that would make a nice 1400 mile ride one way. All depends on whether we can get someone to stay here or if she can ride to Ohio and I trailer the bike that far.
Truth be told, I really miss having her in back, but she insisted I not give up doing what I enjoy just because she can't ride with me anymore. She took one short SLOW ride around the block about seven years ago when I first got the Valk after trading the Wing, said she wanted to say she had been on it at least once. We put some good miles and lots of smiles on that Wing and have many fond memories and pictures, going all the way to the mountains of New Mexico a couple times.

Vell Gunny, I just got released to ride 2 wheels again after knee surgery............... Chevy Trike got lots of miles this year for me being laid up several months. I just did the paper work tonight, Trike got 9,231 miles, and the Valk got a big ole sum of less than 1,000 for this riding season.. Got released to ride one day and dang near in the hospital the next one. Looks like I just might be heading to the horse pistol when mom gets home from work............. I got my fingers crossed as to not have to go. But if I still can't breath when she gets home, we will be making a trip to the ER.

That's a scary feeling....having trouble breathing. Before my triple a little over 7 yrs. ago, I can remember having to use the restroom and it was at the opposite end of the building from my office. I'd get there and have to sit down to catch my breath for a couple minutes. Any time the BP went up from some irritating event, I'd feel it again. Take care, we're all thinking about you and yours. Sure hope it's nothing serious....although I don't think I was in the running, I'll be more than happy to let you continue to carry the "Eldest Banner."

Russell, you get your butt to the doctor and have that breathing issue addressed. Don't mess around with anything that originates in the chest.

I lost count on ages. I will be 75 in March. Started riding @ 16 in Louisville, Ky. Had a job delivering false teeth for a lab. Rode a Harley 125 two stroke, a true POS. Had it for several years until a left hander at 22nd. and Bdwy. got me. Driver did not "SEE" me.

It will be a long time before I become the oldest rider in the group. But we'll see. It is good to have goals.

Only thing I have you beat on is the age I started riding various two-wheeled motorized contraptions. Some were home built, the term "contraption" is very appropriate. Somewhere I have a picture of myself on a cousin's little Doodle Bug on their farm back in NE Iowa, think I was just about grade school age at the time. I rode that little sucker all over the countryside, much to my mother's dismay. Nothing like learning to ride a scoot on gravel roads!!

First bike I owned was a '35 HD 45 side valve. RJ beat me though, I didn't start riding until 1947.
Lots of stories, some good ,very few bad. Only had one getoff when I tried to keep my Matchless between the streetcar tracks on a turn, didn't work. Plenty of flat forehead bike droppings tho.

Don't know about the eldest... but I'm close to the youngest. Clocking in at 31 years young and loving the Valk!!!! Not loving the constant work I've been having to put into it though... Hopefully I'm almost don't with the work part and can just enjoy riding for a change!!! I guess that's what I get for buying used... but the used V-Strom isn't giving me ANY trouble.
