I want to repaint the saddle bags and possibly a trunk I need to know where to order the paint.
I have a shop to do the paint but he asked me to either get the code to match the paint using his paint or to just order the paint myself and he would apply it.
Not sure where to buy it.
Thanks in advance for the feed back!

One of many suppliers:

https://www.colorrite.com/product/honda-nh1z-gloss-black-1282.cfm

Don't forget reducer etc. if the paint person needs it.

Most shops today use a mix chart and the paint company provides a  formula for every CAR however it doesn't cross reference bikes and Honda doesn't even cross reference their cars with bikes.  So I was told if I could get him the correct reference numbers he could/would match the paint without it he asked me to just provide the paint.  He doesn't need me to provide reducer it's a real body shop but he doesn't work on bikes he would be doing me a big favor!  I wish I had the knowledge to do it myself but I won't go there I have no talent in this department!  Anything I have ever painted looked like a child did it maybe not even that good.
I would love a cross reference to a car color this would be great but I don't think it exists?

I believe it was mentioned that all Hondas used the same colour for the standard black paint. So any Honda car should match.

But like already mentioned, all paint codes or on the bike, but other than colorite, there is no way of converting that code into a paint matching formula.

All true black, is just black.

Paint quality does vary however.

it seams honda does not release motorcycle paint formulations to the larger paint companies like they do for the cars

My customer owns a body shop and uses a paint company PPG they provide all the paint and the formulas for every car but bikes don't seem to be listed.

Then it wont really matter, as each part is separated from the other. Colorite has what you want, but you pay a premium for it.

Agreed. Nothing special about the '97 Std, Black. No pearl, metallic, etc. When I added a fairing to my '97 (made in early 1996) I had it painted in a nice base/clear for $100. I found a small shop that was about to paint a black '96 Pontiac Grand Am and asked them, "how much for cash, and I don't need a receipt" ☺ Perfect match for a non-connected part. Colors like black, white and yellow ARE a nightmare to match well enough to fog in to blend a repair, but for a separate piece like a saddlebag, fender, etc. any decent painter can whip up some PPG gloss black that'll do fine.

It may not be noticeable being none of the parts touch but ask any body shop and they will tell you two of the hardest colors to match are black and white.  Hare to believe but true.
