Speedometer Cable
«
on:

Have a 98 Tourer, which someone put a fairing on. When they did they put a 48" speedometer cable on it, the plastic piece at the end of the cable housing is broken. Can anyone tell me where and how I can find a 48" speedometer cable and housing to go back on my bike? Looked on the computer and there are very few that list lengths of cable. If anyone added fairing to their bike and had to get longer speedometer cable what did it originally fit?

Try Daryl at XF6 Custom, he makes a kit for relocating the gauges & headlamp for fairings, which includes a longer speedo cable.

If he doesn't have that length, I'm sure he'll steer you in the right direction

I added a HD faring years ago and with the gauges in the fairing. I just used a speedo extension I think an 8". I finally got fed up with the OEM 6 - 8 mph error and went with a GPS speedo. So if you can only find the stock length the extension is only ~ $10. The couple of years I ran it that way never had a problem.

Thanks for the replies. Talked to Daryl today and ordered the cable that I needed. I also have a 1800 VTX and wife has a 1800 VTX Trike so Daryl might get more business from us.
Would still like to know where extensions are available. Also have a complete Valkryie that the motor went bad on, so I have stock parts available, like short cable.
Thanks Again
