A most AWESOME friend of mine owns a gunstore...he opened it because the local gun dealer was crooked and taking advantage of every one including our young uninformed soldiers. I will get numbers from him for you...What he pays and what he sells 'em for. More questions will come probably but I'll get best info I can for you.

To get some idea of real world prices that people are willing to pay, go here:

http://www.gunbroker.com/

And search on HK91...

It's like eBay for guns... See what prices people are actually bidding on 'em to get an idea...

Kendall, $1500 is too low for a true HK when the clones are selling for that.  When you look at Gunbroker do not look at any ads that have ptr, cetme, etc. Those are clones.  The true HKs on the sight are selling for $3000

Checked with the shop I work at weekends, of course depends on condition, but with a couple mags and if it is a " real H&K " not a clone, between $2000 and $3000. I'm with XRing, condition you describe I would say $2000 to $2500 would be a very fair offer.

What a sweet rifle.  I want it.  Now that you guys have driven the price to fair market value, I can't have it.

I'll just have to live with my SA M1A

You ever see the fired brass from an HK ? Not pretty. If you're a reloader you're lots better off with the M1A. Now a FN FAL - that's what I'd like to have.

I also have an M1-A, among other pieces. She's a great rifle!!!

While I'm in here, does anyone have the Beretta Px4 Storm or know of someone who has one? It's a relatively new model.  My friend and I are considering buying the 9mm version.

Thanks in advance for any information or opinions.

Interesting.

Actually, I recently laid my hands on the new FN FLAR.  A bit heavy but a very nice rifle, and supposed to be near bolt-gun accuracy.   They can be had for $1300 or so and are probably the best .308 magazine rifle for the money available now.  (sights/scope extra)

Yep, gun porn.......  Grin

I feel for you Bladedog.  I had a sweet AR15A2 Hbar when stationed at March AFB near Riverside CA when the scum passed the licensing and registration of these and other evil-looking rifles.  I lived on an exclusive Federal enclave and did not register (and would not have regardless of where I lived).  Shortly thereafter, all who registered had to turn them in to the scum on pain of criminal sanction.  I didn't do that either (though I never took the rifle off base again, until I left the service for VA).  I never lived anywhere with better weather, health and things to do year round than CA.  The wife and I miss it, but I could never live there (or a half dozen other States).

Of course there are good alternative firearms that are not banned in CA, you just have to work the bolt or lever on them.

Lol... thanks Jess, Cali gun laws are one of those things that get my dander up, along with intrusive advertising, dishonest police officers, and slow cars in the fast lane.  I do admit California is one fantastic place to live if you can put up with the short-sighted lawmakers (and stupid taxes... oops that's one more dander-getter-upper).  I'm looking out my office window at a crystal-clear sunny day, about 67 degrees, and it's the middle of November.  "Riding season?  When is it not riding season?"  Cool  Cool  Cool

You can't beat the M1A when you need some fire power.

M1A is a fine gun, and I hope to add one (Or more!) to the stable some day, but I'm still rather partial to the DPMS LR-308... (Now that we've totally gone off the original topic... Wink )

if it is an actual HK and depending on the type of furniture it would easily bring 2000 to 3000 $ .
But that's for people who like little gunz any how  Evil

Marty, I was at March (HQ 15 AF) from July '87 to Dec '92 (and out). I already saw we served the same years, except you started the year before me in '83.  I tried like hell to stay in (at 9 yrs), but SAC and 15AF went away with the end of the cold war and a third of the AD force cut in '92 (as you probably remember)  and so did my job.  I worked brother, though mostly indoors.  No I didn't hang with too many A1Cs....but I prosecuted some and defended more.  HAHAHAHA
Knew and worked with a bunch of great junior and senior NCOs.  And I worked with the cops (LE, not security) alot, off and on.

The March gun range was off base, up on the hill across the freeway (215) just down the road from the 15AF building.  I got to know the combat arms instructors (small outfit) for the cops, who worked in and out of old house trailers out in the desert sun.  The range had been part of a setup to drive Sherman tanks up into and bore sight their mounted 50's during WWII; big concrete enclosures at the front.  When our HQ building was completely redone, I got permission to give the CAT guys all the nearly new carpet, furniture, air conditioners, file cabinents and anything else they needed.  I was able to use the range at lunchtime (alone) just about any day there weren't any classes being taught, and would occasionally back up my truck to the shooting line, drop the gate and let the guys try '03, Garand, mausers, and various other long and short noisemakers.   The only time I ever got to shoot full auto.   It was a sweet deal.

I have the PX4 in .45.
Nice pea-shooter.
I installed night sights and turned it into a PX4-G low profile de-cocker only.
Shoots good, feels better in my hand than a double stack Glock.
FtF once during first clip, never again with probably just shy of a thousand rounds fired.
(before ammo got hard to find)
It is one of the offical house guns being a bit large to CC.
Although the 9mm would be smaller.
- Get a good mag loader.
