Took Friday off hoping for sunny weather to take a ride on Route 2 to the restaurant at the hairpin turn for lunch. It was gloomy when we left the house at about 9:30. It pretty much stayed gloomy until we got the Whitcomb Summit of Hoosac Mtn. Then it finally cleared. This was the first time for Sherry on the motorcycle on Route 2 past Charlemont.
On the way we stopped to buy maple syrup at Gould's Sugar House in Shelburne.

Somewhere on the road in Florida we took out a squirrel. I could feel two bumps as we ran it over. Payback for the squirrels that are chewing-on and ruining the faux wicker furniture on our patio.
We got to the overlook above the hairpin turn. A new owner bought the former gift shop there and is re-habbing it to sell coffee, gifts and sundries. Not clear when it will be done. We took some pictures and got back on the bike to head down to the restaurant at the hair pin curve.

Pulled into the restaurant about 1 PM and it's closed. What? I checked their web site the day before, which stated it opened at noon. Based on what we saw, I think the restaurant is under new ownership and the web site that's still up is defunct.
At that point we were very hungry. Rather then head down the hill into North Adams, we decided we'd head to Shelburne Falls/Buckland and find a place for lunch. We've been to the Cold River Diner in Charlemont before and wanted to try something new.

The sun was out in full in Shelburne Falls. We had lunch at a place called
The Bakery. It's on the side street that leads down to the Deerfield River pot holes. Food was good, but only two pieces of sliced corned beef in my otherwise delicious Ruben was stingy. Don't think we'll be back.
From Shelburne Falls we headed straight home with no stops. It was good day.
Still waiting for the sun to come out here. Don't think it's going to show until mid-afternoon. We're going to head up to Westford, MA for BBQ lunch at Hubba's BBQ.
http://www.hubbasbbq.com/It's seasonal and closes at the end of the month. It's getting good reviews, so we'll give it a try. Well snap some pictures and post later on whether it was good.
We're enjoying the new bike. After today's ride we'll be just about ready to do the first oil change at 4,000 miles.
