Anyone have some experiences with helmet locks for your Valkyrie? I'm getting a little tired of having to carry my helmet with me around campus, wouldn't mind locking it to my bike when I know it isn't going to rain.

Thoughts/Ideas?

I place my full-face helmet over the back rest, then run a bicycle cable lock through the chin bar and below the back rest or through the cargo carrier rack.  If I have a passenger, their helmet sits on the right saddlebag with the cable through its chin bar as well.  I don't worry about rain, but just close the visor as far as it can on the cable.  When I used a half helmet, I just locked it in the saddle bag.

What you don't like the lame one that came with it locks under the seat?

Kewlmetal used to sell a lock which went on Kuryakyn Iso-Grips, in place of the end cap. I have one installed on my I/S. No idea if there's an equivalent made these days.

I bought my Valkyrie second hand. There isn't one on mine that locks under the seat.

These are all good ideas. I'll do some more research.

well it's basically just a cable with a loop on both ends, which you run through the d rings on your helmet and back around and hook it under the seat.   you can easily make one.

Chris: These pins are available as a single pin for the clutch side. It comes with a small padlock. About $12. Check Bigbikeparts or showchrome's website.

Problem is that a douche can cut the strap.

Carry it with you.

And bugs will take shelter up in the helmet.

I live in New Hampshire with no helmet laws. No one steals helmets. Then again I also leave the keys in the ignition... because I live in New Hampshire.

Hi Daniel:
Can you confirm that that Show Chrome 2-354 is the correct helmet pin for our Valks ? I'm struggling to find the right part number according to the fitment charts

Thanks in Advance

Here's a photo of the OEM cable that you use to secure your helmet under the seat

I have a Shark helmet with a ratchet strap. Pins, D-ring locks, and cables either won't work or are inconvenient. So..

I am going to buy a half helmet for local and shorter trips that I can through in the saddle bag. You can pick them up cheap for $40-$60.

Might be an option for you to consider.

Another option is to fit a small trunk. Champion offered one for the Valkyrie which could accommodate a single full-face helmet and it locked. There are others.

I use one of those cable gun locks and run it thru the d ring of the helmet to the backrest--when I use a lock which is very infrequently.

Unfortunately no, I can't. I have these on my valk, but it's been so long I don't know what part # it was. You'll need to determine the thread/size on the stock clutch bolt, and compare that. I expect...if they fit any honda cruiser, they'll fit the valk.

I bought one like this on eBay for under $5 and used a piece of angle aluminum to bolt it to my license plate. Easy.

I just scavenged an old dog leash chain and a small lock. It packs to nothing, and it keeps someone from walking away with your lid. I think someone taking your helmet is more a crime of opportunity anyway. Just saying Shocked
