Is there a test to check a non responsive tach?
Also is there a diagram of the wires that go to it (2 were disconected)

I recall seventeen wires entering the tach. You'll need the service manual to re-attach those 2 your referring to unless the color coding is still visible on all 4 leads. Dag has a downloadable service manual on his Norway site. I can't find my link, but you can search above for the archived thread for the free download. It'll have the wiring diagrams too.
Or maybe someone will post the link here for you.

Thanks for the link.
I found a section about testing the tach.  It appears to need a peek voltage adapter #07hgj-0020100.  Anybody know if a multi meter with a peek hold function will work?
