$150. Pick up at party?  I can text pic.  Good shape not perfect. 8 of 10. One inch less that stock rear shocks.

I could use an inch shorter for my short legs. Are they still stiff enough for riding 2 up. We’re both somewhat small. Text pic to 386-679-4037. Thanks

I would think so.  Want me to bring to the party?

Not to get overly involved with your deal, but the question is what is the spring rate stamped on one of the 440's chrome coils, usually near one end.

They generally sold with either heavy duty or standard rate springs, and I cannot recite those spring rates (and it's possible there was more than two), but that will tell if they are OK for two-up (or at least a steady diet of it).  Though, if the two of you are light, and you crank the preload down enough, standard rate springs may be adequate.  There is no special tool to turn the prelaod caps (like for OE Showas), but on the bike, I have to use a strap wrench to turn mine.  If they are heavy duty springs, they will be fine for two, and maybe stiffer than you like one up.

The 440s have ten full 360* turns of adjustable preload (of the top cap), so they can be turned down stiffer, but the spring rate is still relevant.  The softest setting is with the preload all the way out, and each full turn of the end cap will reveal one thread under the top bushing.

And with less travel than OE length 13"s, that will even be more relevant.

Also, though issued with a lifetime warranty (to the original buyer from a licensed dealer with a receipt), Progressive won't rebuild 440s for anyone anymore.  I'm not trying to nix anyone's deal here, and I think $150 for a $600 pair of shocks is a pretty fair deal.  Just trying to help with information.

Also, they came in chrome, polished aluminum, and black.

I think Progressive has scrubbed their site of 440 information, but they had excellent customer tech support on the phone when I talked to them years ago.  Also, a little searching on line may reveal some of their 440 pdf files which had all the details.

440-4229

But I think that part number came in (at least) two spring rates:  120/170   210/250

One of those should be stamped on the springs.

I'm pretty sure but not certain.

Thanks for all the info jess.
I am interested, I guess depending on what you ride to 3 bananas, you can bring them there ( if you go). Otherwise I can pick up at party. I wasn’t sure how open an invitation it was.
Also looking for a shield mount. Just for plastic, doesn’t have to be in good shape. I have an extra shield to decorate for Christmas ( has lots of defects ) and planning on covering and painting.
Thanks

Good, then I think those are the heavy duty springs.  cooldude

Good for two-up, and better for a shorter (than OE) travel shock.

And less likely to leak down over time.

The text on one was just enough to go, yep! The other one, I could see the progressive text but could not make out the rest.

Looks like you’re going to 3 bananas oct 6. If you ride something with bags, I’ll pick up there. Otherwise I can get at party. Thanks Jim
