About a month or so ago a poster asked about the connector under the rear fender. He thought it could use improvement. I, like most others, smugly told him the connector is just fine as is. Turns out I had a short in the plug today. The rear lights were screwed up and flashing like a Christmas tree. (The directional switch was blinking the wrong light plus the brake light.) Fortunately it was an easy fix. I pullled the rear fender, disconnected the plug, untwisted the wires, retaped everything. And on reassembly I remembered to use the metal clip that holds the plug in place. I apparently forgot that last time.

Also good to know: In the worse case, it is possible to replace all the fender wiring. There are two subassemby harnesses listed. One is $8.40, the other $12.95. And apparently both are available.
