HI all: Looking for info on rear rotor replacement for a 97 standard (understand there is a difference from other/newer valks). Can GW rotor be used, is aftermarket better than OEM.
Also am considering replacing front suspension, looking for recommendations on improving from (original) stock, hoping to reduce front diveing when braking.
Also have to mention did my first ride on the Dragon this Sept on my 77th b/day and 2 up. Chock one off the bucket list for me and the wife. Was also riding with my son. Memories for a life time !

97, 98 and 99 Tourers and Standards all have the same rear rotor. 99 Interstate had the new rotor, and all Valkyries after that had the new rotor... I would choose OEM for the rotor.
The company "Progressive" makes some springs, if you rebuild your forks with their springs (and new seals and bushings) you will probably start liking your forks...

go progressive front springs in the forks with new oil.
My 2001 I/S has OEM front springs and dives and is bumpier thru the handlebars over bumps in the road vs. my 1998 tourer with double the mileage (80K vs. 40K) having nicer and improved progressive front fork springs. I can notice the difference big time enough to get progressives on my I/S some day.

Thanks Mello Dude: ya the OEM are pricey. Are there GW rear rotors that fit our bikes? I read to stay away from the Chinese knock offs. Maybe a member has a "not too used" one for sale.

It amazes me that some think that a few dollars is worth their life or a hospital stay.

What type of failure might you anticipate from an EBC disc that you would not expect from an OEM disc that could create a situation to cause a loss of "life or a hospital stay"?

Well that's not what I think. EBC is a quality aftermarket part just happens to be a fraction of Honda OEM but it's not a compromise on safety at all. I trust their brake parts, both pads and rotors.
