Went to go for a ride. Hit the switch, engine started cranking, let off the switch for a second, hit it again, nothing. Key on there is no power anywhere. Fuses are all good. Put the meter on the battery 13v, turn on the key, goes to 0v. Have some LEDs that aren't on the switch, they come on, until I turn the key on, they go off. It acts like it's got a short somewhere. Time to play electrician. I'm pretty good with motors, but I suck at electronics. Get the meter and star from the battery and work my way out I guess.
I'm gonna give it about 15 minutes though, since that storm we have had a surge of monster mosquitoes. I just turned the Thermacell on, give it a few minutes to kick in.

Assuming you had the Voltmeter leads directly on the battery terminals, not the cable ends, I believe the battery is dead or damaged. If you were touching the battery cable ends, or one lead was on the block/frame, it could be dirty terminal. In any case, take the battery to a store that sells batteries and have it tested.

Yep battery went bad, unknown how long it was in the bike, it was in there when I got it.

I only got 12 years out of that crummy OEM battery.    Grin    I've replaced the battery twice since then. Unfortunately today's AGM batteries tend to drop dead without a warning.

After decades of fooling with cars and motorcycles,  I finally came to the conclusion that car and motorcycle batteries are about 65% design & manufacturing, and about 35% Black Magic.

Seems to me that batteries used every day last longer, but sudden failures..... happen sometimes.
