Yes I'm getting the dark red 2014 Valkyrie this Saturday.  I'm working in Georgia and driving to Alabama and picking it up and riding it back to GA, one of my questions is what is the break in time and what is is upper RPM/speed I can go before it is broken in?

Thank you

Congratulations on the new bike   cooldude cooldude

Not an answer to your question but some interesting reading. I break in  motors that I have rebuilt this way and never any problems.

Dusty,
Thank you and Motor man is right, I always thought that you take it easy on a new motor, will I have about a 200 mile ride back to GA on Saturday, I'll bring a filter and oil with me to change it after 20 miles.  And it makes sense what he was taking about.
Thanks again.

Just a suggestion about changing the oil a bit to soon.

Honda puts a break in additive in the oil when new. I would not change the oil that quickly and allow at least a couple of thousand miles on the oil before you change it. When you do drain it you will notice the shimmer of what looks like bronze in the oil in the pan. I have drained and changed the oil on 3 new Valks and all have had it, which helped me confirm my suspicions. My bike with 30k now the oil looks normal when draining. At first I thought I may have had a problem with my bike because it is that noticeable and Honda is tight lipped about it.

If I remember the OEM suggestion for the oil is 4k miles.

As for driving I really would not worry about it to much since I have known many Valks both 1500 and 1800 and seen many different break ins done and never noticed any difference in any of the bikes.

Congratulations by the way you made a great choice.

First, good luck and your gonna love her.

As far as break in?
A couple thousand miles before first oil change OK, as per Honda specs.

I broke in quite a few new bikes over the years.
The first 100mi. or so I take it real easy until everything settles in (so to speak), then I ride it like I would every day.

Oh, and don't forget to post some pics..

Here's mine 30,000mi. later.

I like to go 200 easy miles on a new bike, change the oil and ride. Yamaha and Suzuki recommends this. I would NOT change at 20, your wasting oil and your money
