I’ve got a black 2014 with Honda chrome rack in rear. Is there a top case I can mount that would be quickly removable?

Givi. Mount the base plate to the rack. Mount the Givi case to the base plate. The case comes off with a turn of the key. I would go with a monokey system. Many cases to choose from.

Givi pops off with the turn of a key, so it's real handy
at the motel. I have two Givis, the other one is bigger
for long trips...

Thanks hubcap, did you hook up brake lights on your case, if so, was it difficult?

No lights, I don't want to mess with wires going to it, just clip it on
and go and clip it off when I get there...

Mike,  Will that case set up fit the versions of the rack that have the back rest bar or will it hang out too far?

Since I ride solo 95% of the time, I have the Honda bags and rear bar and that gives enough space for even short weekend trips. A large box on a rear rack makes the bike look unbalanced to me. I bought a Viking hard trunk and made my own mounts to put it right behind me to use as a back rest for those cross country trips, like the one I took this past summer. From northern Ill up through Minnesota,  into north Dakota, across Montana,  to Glacier National Park, into Washington,  south through Idaho,  Wyoming,  Colorado,  and back to Illinois.  4187 miles in 15 days. Had plenty of room for all I needed. I can put it on in like 15 minutes and it comes off easily also. If you ride 2 up, then ya you need more room, but for me it works fine.

Since I ride solo 100% of the time, I have a JC Witney hard trunk (comes with mounting plate) and made my own rack to mount it (mounting plate) where the rear seat goes.

(click on pic, then click again for better full size view)

If you ride 2 up, you need the Honda rack also, then mount plate to Honda rack.

I used a mid-size Shad top box on my Honda luggage rack. I didn't like the way the mounting plate looked without the box so I bolted the mount to a block of wood and used three bolts with wingnuts to bolt the whole assembly to the luggage rack. You can still take the box off the mount, or you can take off the mount and block of wood and have the naked luggage rack-much sexier than the mounting place-pun intended. I posted a thread on here about it but couldn't get the pics to work. There is a thread with pics on the other forum.

Tbear bumped this thread, which got me reading through it again... I missed this
the first time around...

I haven't seen how the OEM passenger backrest mounts, but I can say
that there's leeway on mounting the case adapter to the rack. Also -  there's
a GIVI backrest you can add to the trunk and not use the Honda backrest.
