Last weekend Scooter and I went to a gun show in Atlanta....well, this weekend, I had promised to take the Wife to a bead/jewelry show in Gwinnett....I had to "Man up" and muster all the dignity I could to walk into a place like that!!.....

at first I fought it and was leaning up against a column on the edge of the show watching a bunch of women frantically elbowing each other out of the way to look at new bead offerings...it was like watching a bunch of Scooters fighting for the fresh dougnuts at Krispy Kreme!!....a few old guys were walking two steps behind their wives carrying their purses for them and holding little containers holding the purchases they were going to make....a couple of old Ladies looked over at me, stopped, smiled REAL big and told me that they KNEW what that look in my eyes meant....dang, they had me dead to rights.....

I thought about it a minute and asked myself....."Dude, here are hundreds of women and a LOT of them are young, beautiful fillies"....Hell, I figured if I couldn't beat them, then I should join them!!.....I started flailing my elbows and jumped right in the middle of the pack.....I asked Abby if she wanted me to buy her something to make into a necklace, but she wanted to get her own stuff....I decided to buy a few things to make some stuff for another of my female friends and then the hunt was on!!.....I almost had to slap a few old bags out of the way to beat them to some stuff I had my eye on..... Cheesy....

I even had this one beautiful girl helping me pick out some Christmas type beads for a special project I had in mind...she was very helpful and all smiles...I eventually  had Abby helping me pick out some stuff also........so, after about 50 circuits around to all the vendors, my wallet was empty of ALL the cash I had with me and then had to borrow a little cash from Abby and put a few things on my check card.....I think I spent $80 on everything before it was over.....

We got there at 12:30 and didn't leave until 5pm when they closed the show
....I finally wore myself out leaving Abby to make a few more last minute purchases while I walked outside of the exhibit hall and took my place with all the other guys who had bored, lost looks about them.....I plopped down in a chair and wondered what the HELL just happened here??......Geeze Louis!!!......I should have known that when the half nekkid Wife met me at the door earlier this week before leaving for work, that I'd pay for it somewhere down the line.....Lord help me now.....I need to go for a ride before I pick up yet another hobby!!..... Shocked

Well did you at leasy 'carry' to that event? At least you were man enough to get into the pack. I only do that at Victoria's Secret. If I don't i'm the creepy old guy in the corner!

On a side note, I was to go to a Pampered Chef party today, but I'm to sick.  Undecided

Here's how to really get on her good side. Take her to this event, slowly get lost in the crowd, put in a hundred miles or so, show up a few hours later, she'll never miss ya.

Well, I was looking for a link to the Gemboree they have each July. Been several times and nothing like going to the local mines to find your own gems. Don't do the roadside mines though, they are spiked with inferior gems. Franklin has produced some of the world's best rubies, saphires and emeralds. The Gemboree is neat even if your not buying. The museum downtown is good but the best to visit is the place just east of there. They sell gems, jewelry, mining supplies and have a free museum downstairs with some of the largest gems from around the world. Tiffinany's used to own a large portion of the ruby mining area and has since vacated/sold off their interests. Makes for lots of fun and if you are patient and lucky you could pay for the trip from your find. Be careful though, it might turn you into a rock hound.

"Gem Mining
The Franklin area is world famous for its gem mining. Franklin hosts the famous jewelry and gem show, "Macon County Gemboree" twice a year, an event that draws crowds from across the country and around the world. The Cowee Valley north of Franklin lures thousands each year to its mines which yield valuable stones to lucky miners. You'll also find other gem mines located throughout the area. Among the native stones found are ruby, sapphire, and garnets"

To bad you didn’t have a time machine, go back in time a few hundred years, and buy Manhattan Island!

My kids use to get into those beads, I call ‘em vacuum cleaner bullets, one would always come shooting out as they were getting sucked up from the carpet!

This is not what you think......"Smilin" Jack Hunt, one of my first friends in the North Georgia Motorcycle Club turned 59 last weekend, and Thumper invited some of Jack's friends over to a surprize party for Jack where we chipped in on a two night stay at a motel in Maggie Valley for Jack and his with Anita.....I think Jack was just as pleased to have his friends take the time to show for his BD party!!....He's a "One of a kind" sort of guy...He frequents the BBR board for the most part, but some of the Old Timers here may remember him...he has a 2001 Black/Gold Interstate.....and he's the reason I became a Valk pilot after letting me ride his back in July of '04..... cooldude

Franklin, NC is only 15 miles North of where I grew up in Mountain City, GA...I know about the gems in that area, but I SURE don't want to get involved with THAT kind of stuff....she already loves diamonds and stuff.....even those little beads the other day can add up fast..... Cheesy... Grin

Took my Valk up there one day just to visit and we ended up replacing all of the fluids with synthetics.  I was undergoing chemo at the time and had to lay down for a while.  When I woke up the had completely detailed my entire bike.  Amazing!

During the party he told me that this was the first birthday party anyone had ever thrown for him.  Again, amazing!  Anyone who knows Smilin' Jack Hunt is a better person for it. cooldude
