New to forum, just bought a really  clean 1998 standard. Already installed the Pingel fuel petcock, but want to install the Dan Marc shut off as well. Haven't taken the right side cover off yet, is the accessory plug readilly visable? Do I need to hunt down a wire that is switched on and off with the ignition switch?
I used to have an Interstate and sold in about 8 years ago. Always wanted another Valkyrie

Welcome to the asylum.  Dan-mark is a great idea, at least according to most.  I would suggest you add an auxiliary fuse box/panel powered with a relay that is powered by the accessory wire under the right side cover.  This way you can power lots of added gew gaws.  If all you will ever add is the dan-mark then you can probably use the accessory wire.

The Easter Beaver PC-8 fuse box with the associated relay is easy to use.  http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/PC-8/pc-8.html

I power my radio, external power outlets, quad horns, LED running lights, dan-mark and headlight smart switch.

You may also consider de-smogging.  I put my dan-mark in the same day I de-smogged.

Search for dan-mark and you will get lots of info on how it is installed.

Good luck.

Thanks. Dan Marc will arrive on Monday. I'm just gonna do that install right now.
Bike runs great at the moment, only 19,000 miles.

Some have gone so far as to put a switch (hidden?) on the power line to the Dan Marc as an additional anti-theft item.
