The manual calls for a Sealant to the one bolt on the timing belt cover.  What kind of sealant should be used and just curious, why this one bolt??

Thanks-

others will chime in on this...good catch on this detail.  it's because that one tapped hole goes into the motor housing deeper (presumably breaks through into an oil/coolant passage) and can therefore leak without some sealant on its threads.  I'd go with something like a little high temp permatex--I think that's what I used 3 years ago and it's been fine.

Interesting.  Thanks for the info and will have some permatex handy when I get the parts in next week!

I have my own theory on this because of how my bike behaves.  Bottom line I dont use any sealant on that bolt and its never been a problem.  I have done 4 or 5 bikes, never sealant never a problem.

Use a Permatex non hardening sealant made for petroleum distillates. That hole goes into an oil area but it's not a pressurized passage.
