Today was the first time I've been able to dig into the Valk. DO NOT GO TO ANDERSON CYCLES IN FRAMINGHAM IF YOU VALUE YOUR RIDE. He has hacked the wiring so badly it will take me all winter to get it straight. Things have been shoved into and around the battery compartment so that it is impossible to get the side covers to mount correctly; the chrome center cover is broken; I will try to repair it, but I understand why he lost his Yamaha dealership. His fix for the chrome side covers was to drill and ty-wrap them. $130 to fix a non working speedometer. Yes, it works, but registers 20 mph no matter how fast it's going. $3000 UP FRONT for a used engine that cost $1000, with an afternoon of scooter maintenance thrown in. Plus I spent a couple of afternoons putting back the add-ons, chrome covers, etc. I'd love to know if my subwoofer is still functioning, but the battery is dead, he threw away my Battery Tender hookup, and I can't find the replacement I bought. Just venting. Between him and Adam at Rocket Moto, who replaced my clutch but neglected (so I was told) to tighten down the main clutch nut (and also left the oil drain plug loose, so that I lost 4 quarts of oil), I should not require intercourse for the rest of my life... just venting. Brett, I'm so sorry I didn't take you up on your offer... Forgot to mention that Anderson took 18 months to do all that...

I used to work in Framingham, and I went to Anderson's quite a bit when they were in Saxonville. I tried hard to support my "local shop", but they seemed to do everything possible to fight it off. After spending quite a bit over several months adding stuff to my bike and 4 wheeler, I cut down a rear tire one Sunday afternoon. Kept the bike up, but there was a two inch slice in the tread. I searched that night for a tire, and knew what online retailers were charging ($120-$130).
I brought them the rear wheel on Monday morning. Asked them to get me the tire (figured I'd let them make something there, and also figured they'd charge less for mounting and balancing if I let them make something on the tire). Friday (yes, Friday), I get a call to come get it. $210 for the tire and $30 to M+B it. Oh, and a scratched wheel, too.
Last time I walked through that doorway...

Sorry to hear about all the troubles you've had with your bike, Karen.
I might have a chrome center cover around, not perfect (I replaced it for reasons I can't remember so I'd have to check it out closer) , but it's yours for the asking if you can use it.
Good luck putting her right.

Wow Karen what a nightmare! A competent mechanic is worth his weight in gold especially on bikes no longer in production. How about that guy who goes around the country fixing Valk? May be worth having him reverse whats been done to yours and putting it back right.

Hey Karen. You and I have talked about this, but it seems even worse to see it spelled out so clearly in a post. I'm so sorry you've had to endure this. I've heard the same thing from others. Although I live about 4 miles from Anderson, I've never considered them for work on the Valk. I brought it there for inspection once and they poured over it like no other, probably looking for some thing to fix. Sooner or later (in this case hopefully sooner) shops like this go out of business because the word gets out about awful service and dishonest treatment of customers. If you want to spread your experience to a wider audience, I strongly recommend posting your experience to Anderson's Yelp Page. Link is below. https://www.yelp.com/biz/andersen-cycle-works-framinghamIn addition you could contact the Better Business Bureau about your experience. You can also post a review on the BBB site. See the link below. https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/framingham/profile/motorcycle-dealers/andersen-cycle-works-0021-82245This guy needs to feel some pain.

Thank you all for your thoughts and commiserations. Great ideas, Tony! Bill, let me see if I can fix what I have; if you still have it, I'd take it, thanks again! At least it's finally home and in the garage!

especially with his schedule but who could have guessed how bad you would have gotten hosed by Anderson. Just not right. not sure if you heard but Bill had some health problems and didn't finish his 2018 "tour". I was hoping I would see him (& Aussie) in 2018 but maybe in 2019? He would be a great person to stop by Rockland and work his magic. Just a thought. How's the scooter?

Just to let you know Karen that If you do need some help, we are still around. So if you get stuck on something let me know. The boy has a big trailer that we could get the Valk on I am sure.
