Have decided the sidecovers are too plain. Looked at lots and lots of pics here (and there) for ideas. Some really nice striping and other paint work to be found and also some chrome pieces added. Always looking for ideas to make the old gal preen.
I found dragon belt buckles at buckleshop.com (also a pretty nice Valk buckle) and think I will mount one on each side cover and get some tasteful striping around them to set them off. Also gotta buy a belt!
So far the pics here have cost me a few bucks and more to come, fender tips, tank bra, etc.
Having a Valk to play with is way better than golf!

I guess I'll have to cut the hole pin and belt loop off the buckle with a dremel.
Then I plan to cut a piece of thin rubber a tiny bit smaller than the buckle, find a place on the buckle to drill a hole for mounting with a stainless machine screw and attach to the cover. There's a pinstripe artist around here who can probably do a good job setting the whole thing off.
I really hope it turns out -otherwise I'll have a hole in each cover. Will post pics when done.
Will also post a pic of the Valkerie buckle (not on me though, don't have a wide angle lens!

I think I would try 2 sided tape first before drilling any holes. Then if you don't like it you can take it off. Most all the emblems now a days are put on with tape anyway. You may have to go to a body shop supply house to get the good stuff, but I would bet it will work fine and no holes.  JMHO.                               Tim

Good idea by the way. cooldude

Like the idea. Can't wait to see pics.
Just a couple questions.

Ricoman:
is the belt buckle flat or curved? Some of my bigger more decoratie buckles are curved for comfort. That might need to be taken into consideration as you plot this out.

Slowroad:
Do you think double sided tape would hold the weight?  seems like a buckle might be heavier than double sided tape would hold, especially if it is a pewter buckle which a lot of the buckle shops are from what I"ve read.  I've used double sided tape under the rubber of my passenger floorboads and it works well there. I've also used double sided tape to hold on my tail light cover and i works well there thus far. But a buckle?

Dag:
Is the maiden on yours a vinyl sticker, air brushed, or chrome? The numbers seem to reflect as if they are metal, yet she always looks flatter (in reflection anyway).  I like that Maiden Valkyrie with the sword.  cooldude

Haven't got them yet-Tues or Wed. I hope.
I hope they aren't curved- no too much any way. They are about 3 1/2 X 2 1/2 if I remember right.
I like the double tape idea-the buckles can't be any heavier than stock tank emblems which are held on with tape. Plus the tape would not allow scratching of the cover.
Anybody go look at them yet?

If you have a tight fitting surface, try Carpet Tape. Super thin and will hold almost anything to the point of no return. Your mating surfaces have to fit tight in order to work. Roll Eyes

I went to the Motosens site and all I can find is gauges. Do you happen to have the URL for the decals or contact information?

It is the manager with Motosens in Germany who makes the stickers. You will not find them on the web site.
Send a e-mail to Motosens Germany and ask for them.  cooldude

Just an Idea you could try velcro tape ,
might give you a little flexabilty if the buckles are  curved to much,
if flat even better.

Differant types of rubber cement might work as well, like what they use on picture
hangers, or the stuff they hold credit cards with when they send them to you,
and it would clean off with alcohol.

what ever you use make sure it will hold, and not be loose,
the vibration from driving and bumps and such, will cause ti to scratch covers in time.

I haven't contacted Mostens. Don't have the money for that project now, just filing away for future reference what Dag said. Projects for later.

Not really art, just a couple of plastic chrome emblems that I thought would look good on the side covers. I got them from E-bay & they are directional. One left & one right, under $20.

Is that a real air vent or a faux vent?
I saw some faux vents at the automotive store that weren't real and that would peel and stick dang near anywhere. Just curious. Looks good.

No, is not a real vent. I customised it to fit at the Valk sidecover. If I remember right, it's from Highway Hawk for a Kawasaki VN
