Really kind of on the fence about INZANE...
I went a couple of years ago and I'm not sure how well I fit in. Bike spent most of the time waiting for the mechanic to get to it (wind tipped it over and did some damage I didn't find out about until later...) So I didn't really have much to do except hang around the hotel or use the cage to sight-see.
We finally went on the Joe Boyd Memorial ride (in the cage) and lunch. Wife is "gluten free" and found almost nothing to eat (except maybe a bowl of lettuce).
When evenings came around and the rides were done I went to the pool area to "socialize." I found several "veteran INZANERS" talking about the good times they had together (before I even knew about INZANE), and embibing "adult beverages." I'm a non-drinker of alcohol, so I struggled to find anything in common. With pretty much anyone. Except that I own a Valk, that I wasn't riding that week. That's my "first impression" of INZANE... isn't it supposed to be better than that?

Unfortunate you feel/felt that way. As a newbie myself several years ago in Spearfish, I had quite a different experience...not big "drinkers" ourselves, the Mrs and I managed to to meet and make friends with some great folks, which spurred me on to attend the next two years as well. It's what you make it. It's a well-organized event with a lot of different types of folks...which is a big part of the attraction..."how boring life would be, if everyone were just like me". It's also only part of the reason we signed up again this year...the idea of meeting interesting new folks and hanging with old friends for a few days who share the same passion for this bike that I do is great, but for us the adventure of the ride to and from is as much or more a part of the entire experience. Like I said...it's what You make it.... see you in Taos?

Well, yes, it is. There may be many reasons for a less than spectacular experience. Most who have a great time report that what one gets out is directly related to what one puts in. There are some folks though that just don't enjoy what's going on there or have expectations that simply aren't met. The best thing about InZane is simply getting together (socializing) with a group of really interesting people who share an infatuation for the same machine. As for the drinking, I don't participate in that. I drink no alcohol so sometimes I slip away when I'm likely to be singularly sober amongst my friends who are not. My advice is that if you tried it and didn't like it maybe it's best you don't try it again. On the other hand if you can see that you could make it a better experience it is full of good times potential.

It can be kind of "cliquey". A lot of the members here have known each other for some time and hang out together. But, I've found most are welcoming of you to join in. You were definitely at a disadvantage by not being able to ride your bike. Most of the friendships I have made were riding together and getting to know each other at stops and lunches. I also drink beer and BS in the evening after riding (until Serk gets the cops called on us), but drinking isn't required to come out and BS. I'm sure I enjoy it more than my wife does, but she finds stuff to keep her occupied during the BS sessions. I don't recall where in the country you are, but you should join in on some local rides and see if you guys enjoy that.

Just curious, I've never been to an Inzane before, but are there any vendors at this? And will there be a list?

There will be a few vendors but if you're comparing to larger rallies there certainly not be nearly so many. In years past there were more but honestly a gathering of three or four hundred isn't worth the cost and effort of most vendors. The exception would be those sellers that are VRCC members themselves. The reason for attending will be sharing time and experience with other VRCC members.

All registered. This year attending as a member and a vendor! Attended Roanoke but only for a day, had to scoot out to see family. Looking forward to meeting everyone, especially those who've purchased some of my products! https://www.facebook.com/Jerseymcproducts/?modal=admin_todo_tour
