I have installed the standard Dan-Marc and the 1/4" orifice one. I don't think the desmog has any bearing on the install. It's just convenient to do both while you have the airbox off. Same considerations apply: Keep the fuel line downhill or level - no loops or dips or excessive length. There's very little head pressure on this gravity system; anything that impedes the flow will show up as fuel starvation - been there and fought that. That's the why of the larger orifice Dan-Marc. (I tow trailers which demands more fuel - have got as low as 17mpg.) Good idea to replace the OEM plastic fuel T with a brass one with screw-in barbs with the same thread/port size as the Dan-Marc so you can keep the flexible fuel line length longer to allow flex for inserting it back onto the petcock barb. Using the bigger Dan-Marc on Jade, I supported it's greater weight with a wire tie so it wouldn't sag and cause an air bubble blockage (pictured). Don't add anything to the fuel line like a filter. Mine is powered via a latch relay powered by the black-white line from the kill sw. (The same circuit is at the coils and the ECM) Relay triggered by a hidden momentary-on pushbutton (with relay output feedback to the trigger input via a diode) and power from the circuit goes to LED in parallel with the solenoid (Dan-Marc) so I can see the valve is powered on. This enables fuel security - for theft / hijacking, or if the bike tips over. The fuel is off unless the latch is triggered, and goes off with the ignition or kill sw or tipover. Doesn't take long to learn to always hit the pushbutton when starting the bike. If you forget the bike sputters in about a mile. There's no need to turn off/on the petcock as that fn is done by the Dan-Marc.
