I wanted to give a perspective on Jersey’s signal boss, a plug and play modification that uses your stock turn signal switch and adds a self-cancelling system with programmable delay, emergency flashers and an escort mode. It also “knows” when you’re at a light waiting to turn and extends the delay until you have started moving again. It also eliminates the need to modify anything for a full conversion to LED signal lamps. An added bonus.
I’m doing a complete makeover on a 2001 Interstate and decided since it will be my primary bike for long trips it was going to have what I needed and wanted on it. I saw that the signal boss was available and purchased one. I had a few “snags” on the install that I needed help with. Jersey provided prompt and very helpful one-on-one support as needed until the unit was working as intended. I’ve tested the unit several times since and it works as advertised. There is a brief learning curve but the instructions are very good and the more I use it the simpler and more intuitive it becomes. A very well thought out unit that works better than any automobile I’ve driven. And from a single 3-position control (stock turn signal lever). I like the fact that if for any reason I should wish to return to stock the mod is completely reversable. It’s a very nice product.

This will be my second year with the Signal Boss(soon I hope...this damn brass monkey weather is keeping me housebound)  (((Shocked)))

The way the unit works is...Normal Direction Signals when the switch is slid in either direction...but when you pause in one direction or the other...it either kicks into 'escort' or '4-way flash' mode depending on which direction you pause.
The kit comes with two 'return to center' options...foam pads or springs.
When I installed it I had an issue with the little springs...there was just not quite enough 'return to center' spring pressure in one direction to recenter it...So the unit would go into escort mode.  So I had to experiment a bit and add a bit of the foam to the one direction that had the problem to increase return pressure a bit to correct it. These bikes over the years collect a lot of road dust and wear so before anything else make sure your switch unit is cleaned thoroughly and lubricated with a dry non dirt attracting lube. I used one of the new dry teflon lubes that you would use on multi-speed bicycle derailleurs. Mine was a rattle can lube that used an instant drying propellant.

Conclusion...I rode a lot of years with my Yammy Bikes which had auto cancel and I just could not always remember to cancel the signals with this bike. That is a possibly dangerous scenario....Anyway 5 stars for the Signal Boss IMHO.

If you want to donate your scrap unit, I have another bike I could experiment on with it. PM me if you’re interested.

Here is my experience with Jersey's Signal Boss.
I was one of the Beta Testers, we had to sign an agreement with Steve before the process began. Cost was $70, my first unit didn't work but was replaced right away. Really easy install, good instructions and seem to work very well.
After a few months and weather getting colder the unit started doing funky things, the turn signals would come on at random, left then right, was always having to turn off the signals. The 4 ways came on at random also, it got so annoying I removed the unit and reported back on my experience.
For me to purchase a new unit it would be 50% off since I was one of the Beta Testers.

I had to ask my self, how many times in the last 45 years of riding have I needed 4 way flashers, I could only think of 1 time, I never have needed Escort flashers and the turn signal auto cancel was something I have never had anyway.

I think this is a great product, Jersey did an awesome job with a plug and play enhancement for our bikes, it was just something I didn't need.

I had the same issue on my unit early on.  The turn switch contacts on the bike are a bit noisy from an electrical perspective and it took a little time to workout the circuitry and code.  The current unit SignalBoss has all that handled now.
