Another beautiful November day in Wisconsin.  Temps in the low 50's and the sun was shinin'...

Got up early, to install a new air filter (hit reserve the other day, and left it empty so the change would be easier), with thoughts of getting a few miles in this afternoon.

Air filter change went off without a hitch (man I love the 'quick disconnect'), and after a few chores, I threw on the boots, leathers, and helmet...  Quick stop to fill'er up, and I was on my way...  I decided it was a good time to pay a visit to my folks place, and pointed the big beast north.

Mom and dad live about 35 miles away, and the roads to West Bend are two lane, twisty, and not too busy...  I was just toolin' down the road, with the tunes cranked up, really enjoying the beautiful day.

The car that shot past me, going the other direction, caught my eye...  White, with a strange looking roof rack...  Checked my speed...  65 indicated...  55 zone...  Soon to be 45...  I Back off a bit...  Roof rack car pops a U-Turn, and turns on the lights...  Damn  tickedoff

I pull over, he pulls up behind me...  "Good afternoon officer" I say...  He says what's yer hurry?  I say I don't think I was speeding.  He says 64 in a 45 is speeding...  I protest, he takes my license, and heads back to the car...  I take off my helmet, light up a smoke, and stew...  I can understand a ticket for 64 in a 45...  But where I saw him, and he saw me, it was 55, and only 45 after I pulled over.

19 over, and $190 that I coulda used for chrome...  I'm gonna show up for court.  If fo no other reason but to get it reduced.  I know my speedo is about 5mph optimistic at that speed, so I don't think I was doing 60 when we passed one another...  Moving radar, from the other direction, has burned me once before, but that was 25 years ago...  I've not had a ticket in 10 years, and the cop even said, with my record, they should reduce it in court...

Nice day, crappy end to the season...   Undecided

I was heading to my daughters last soccer game in Blaine MN.  I was in a pack of about ten cars when the guy ahead of me slams on his breaks, I move into the left lane and pass him, as I do I see a cop sitting in the weight station put his car in reverse, then pull around.  You guessed it, I got stopped!  Said I was going 78 in a 65!  My GPS records my speed, time, and date.  It said 73.  needless to say when I went to court I had lost that data, and the DA said they’d reduce it to 73, still a $200 ticket!  You know what happened, the cop clocked the guy ahead of me going 78, and just assumed that since I pulled around him, I was the one speeding!

First ticket since high school, 25 years earlier!

Damn cycle has too much power and runs too smooth!  Now if I had a harley, I’d be happy to be cruising at 78!

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Now you need a cheap radar detector. Mines been on the bike for 9yrs and only been stopped twice on the bike. Doing a U'ee and speeding.  ??? Had my radio up to loud to hear it! Got out of both.

That sucks Steve. Three years ago on the First ride of the season me and my brother Chris were Riding down Maysville Road north west of New Haven (nice two lane road) moving along enjoying the day. I look to the right and see a cop. Look down 49. speed limit 45 I should be OK. Nope. Just as look up I see a 35 speed limit sign. The limit WAS 45 last year. They freeking changed it on me. Needless to say he pulls us over. He lessened it to 44 for me and 45 for Chris. Than he asked. "I hope this didn't ruin you day" I said "it sure didn't help". I cant fault him for doing his job though. It was my fault for not seeing the sighs,Oh well. It cost me about 200 bucks. So I feel your pain Steve....

That same day a little earlier we are going down N River Rd. (another two lainer) and I see a guy on a Harley sitting on the side of road in the grass. So I motion to Chris I am turning around. We turned around and went back. I rode past him a little ways and did a U-turn in the road and stopped right next to him on the edge. He says "How did you do that ?".. ME.. "how did I do what ?"..HIM.."turn that big bike around without putting your feet down ?". I said.. "practice". Anyway he was out of gas and someone was coming for him. I said goodbye and we returned to our ride. Got the ticket a few miles later........

Hey Steve,
I went for a ride today, made 3 trips "around the block" hit triple digits on the long straight away each time. Looks to me like you went the wrong way in your travels.

Actually talk to me about your cite one of these days, I may be able to give you some insight on how the courts work.

We saw one LEO on our whole trip and that was an Oconto County Sheriff and he was on a mission.  He blew by me like I was standing still and disappeared into the future somewhere so all in all, it was a good trip

Sorry to hear of your ticket... I had the same thing happen in February in Walworth... on a lonely country back road, I was doing 53 in what I learned was a 35 MPH zone...  open farm fields on both sides of the road just after you leave a residential area.  Because it would some day be developed into subdivisions in a few  years, they went ahead kept it at 35 MPH even though you're a quarter mile past the last subdivision heading out of town.  Can you say instant speed trap???  $200 ticket and my insurance went up $100/ year for 3 years!!!

After I got the ticket and pulled away,  about 300 yards up the road the limit went to 55 MPH.

That piece of road brings in lots of $$ for Walworth I'm sure...

I feel your pain, Steve!!
